06/25/12 DBD: Moving

Stay connected for news and updates

It's a quarter til midnight, so I'm posting this DBD. Awhile ago, someone said one of the hallmarks of adulthood was hiring movers and not just hoping your friends' backs don't give out when hauling around your textbooks, and this is something I contemplated a lot while I was moving this weekend. I've been moving things to my new place from my old place (in the ghetto, where my car was shot) and my old-new place (where I've been subleasing from a linguist).

So, what's your moving style? Do you hire packers? Movers? Friends? Do you avoid putting down roots/buying actual furniture so that moves are fast and easy? Do you decorate and make every new place feel like home? What's the first thing you do to christen your new abode? After the jump, some random images from the weekend. All are safe for work, but probably not particularly useful to anyone.

I bought this dryer off of Craigslist. Unfortunately, it didn't fit through the door at my new place :( Also, it was super heavy. Also, I wasn't responsible for actual lifting, since I would likely injure myself and others.

Check out this dumpling I made. I mean, I made others, but I ate them.

Someone brought this to a potluck I attended. Dr. Mrs. CALumbus Bear has already been notified. And how were your weekends?
