After a successful first day, all five Cal men's crew boats advance to the semifinal round in Cherry Hill, NJ. CalBears.com has the full story. Cal's Open 4, Freshmen 8, Varsity 4 all won their heat. JV 8 placed 2nd. The all important (and 4th ranked) Varsity 8 initially placed 3rd in the heat behind Harvard and Boston University. Varsity 8 does advance by winning the Repechage.
Unlike Women's Crew, the "Team National Championship" title is awarded to the Varsity 8 grand final winner. However, the other 4 boats are contending for the National Championships of their event.
