DBD 5.25.12 #YOLO

It has come to my attention that some of the old people (read, 30 or above; or anyone who's married) here are a little confused by this phrase. Young people everywhere are saying it. It's exploding all over Twitter. But what does it mean?

Let's get the definition out of the way. It stands for You Only Live Once. It's been around for a while, but was recently popularized by hip hop artist Drake, whose track, The Motto (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V2VVEH6AX4) is all about this.

But what does it mean?

In many ways, it's similar to a much older phrase - "Carpe Diem" (Seize the Day). Basically, make the most of your life. A lot of us had this philosophy back in college, which is why we'd be partying on a Tuesday, instead of studying for Thursday's midterm.

In practice, a lot of people use it to justify doing stupid things (drinking to the point of losing control, for instance). But don't think of them when you hear it. Think about the times when you got up, said "forget my responsibilities" and went out and did something fun and memorable.

So let's hear your stories!
