Holding the potent Arizona offense to just three runs is a pretty acceptable performance, but Cal's bats couldn't get going against Wildcat ace Kurt Heyer. The Bears only managed 5 hits and a solitary unearned run against one of the best pitchers in the conference, and it heaps even more pressure on Cal to take the rest of the series.
The good news is that Cal's own ace Matt Flemer is on the mound this afternoon. He'll need to be at his very best to hold down Arizona, and the Bears need it badly. Go Bears!
