The Bears are back in action . . . and looking to break a 4 game losing steak after falling to Santa Clara on Wednesday. Michael Theofanopoulos is the mildly unexpected Friday starter, though he's been pitching well lately so it's not a huge shock or anything.

Washington has been a significantly improved team this year after struggling to a 17-37 record last year - easily the worst in the conference. The main difference has been a pitching staff that has an ERA nearly 1.5 runs lower than 2011. They'll send Aaron West (2.56 era in 45 & 2/3 innings) to start today's game.

Washington is a solid team, but Cal should be favored at home if they're the team we all think they can be. Just another in a long string of vaguely must-win games. Go Bears!
