While you all tap your feet impatiently while staring at the clock, why not take the edge off of Selection Sunday by enjoying some nice, relaxing Cal Baseball? The Bears fell to the Cornhuskers yesterday by a score of 12-5. Cal actually led 3-0 early and 4-2 entering the 6th inning, but Nebraska jumped all over starter Matt Flemer and relief pitcher Michael Lowden. That Esquer stuck with Flemer so late in a close game perhaps is an indication of a lack of bullpen depth. In any case, Lowden came into a tough situation and allowed the grand slam that turned the game into a rout.
Cal will look to bounce back today behind Kyle Porter, making just his 2nd appearance of the season. Porter will probably be limited in terms of pitches and/or innings, but the bullpen should be relatively well rested. Time to start another winning streak. Go Bears!
