I feel this link from the previous page bears further discussion:
I do understand that transcripts of enrolled students were discussed, and that there are recruits prepared to file statements under penalty of perjury that Tosh used these transcripts to suggest Cal was too hard, and that UW would be much easier.
Using a student’s information without authorization by the student in this way is a violation of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. An administrator would be fired immediately for doing what Tosh did. Tosh shouldn’t even have access to the transcripts, unless there is a legitimate academic or administrative reason for him to have them.
I left out the header, which says that he didn’t actually steal any physical transcripts; just used his knowledge of players’ transcripts.
Warren’s post suggests that Tedford filed a grievance with the Pac-12; not sure if it’s relating to this transcript issue, though.

For me, the most disturbing thing about all these allegations/actions regarding Tosh is just how embarrassed I am that he was ever a part of the Cal family.
If even half of this is true, it points to someone who’s character is so corrupt and base that you have to wonder whether he’s got any integrity at all. I mean, secretly recruiting players for the other side before you were even there is one thing, but betraying the confidence of a kid having difficult in school, and using that as a tactic to sway other kids — it’s beyond low.
I honestly don’t understand his motivation for behaving in such a petty, vindictive, and spiteful manner.
The more I learn, the happier I am that this miscreant has been purged from all things UC Berkeley. And if some players are so taken by his antics, behavior, and sales pitches as to follow him, well perhaps for as good a player as they may have been, they wouldn’t have been the best fit for our university.

It’s easy to say that, but there are several kids on our current roster who were in fact taken by his behavior and sales pitches over the past few years, and they seem to be fine kids.

not worried about the kids, i’m worried about tosh and his actions. if these allegations are true, then, wtf? what an asshole! and thank goodness he’s away from the program.
Oh, I’m not worried about them either. I’m just saying, we can pretend like, oh, well they wouldn’t have been good Cal Bears anyway and I guess they don’t belong at Berkeley so no big deal, but that seems a little pat.

I absolutely LOVE the guys we got, and I’m sure they’re going to be great for us, but I’m honestly pretty bummed out about 1) the guys we didn’t get 2) the guys our rivals did get.

Yeah, it seems like the two schools that got the most from Tosh leaving
was UW and UCLA, all at the expense of Cal.

Unfortunately it is between them and stanfurd.
Fuck stanfurd, I can’t believe their class is this good. I know they have been winning lately and that helps but it is ridiculous to think kids actually want to spend the next four years at Farm.
Our recruiting class in 2007 was pretty monster after we shared the Pac-10 title, so success on the field does help a lot. They’ve been in the BCS two years in a row (Jesus Christ!) and have sent players to the NFL. Plus a full ride to Stanford. I’m sorry, that must seem like a good deal to an 18 year old with no affiliation.

Not to be negative but I have heard that way too much these past two weeks only for it to turn out we were not “good” at all with some of the recruits we lost.

Barton and Coprich have signed
Their info just has to get faxed through and we’re at 14 schollies (+ Morgan from last year’s class). So I think we could get up to 18-20 by the end of the day if everything breaks right, which would be rough but not a disaster.

that’d be fine… again all things considered. Our official number for last year was only 22, if ESPN is accurate.

Are we sure he wasn’t? the details are murky on that… and maybe he wasn’t offered b/c of grades or something?
Perhaps Cal coaches just weren’t that impressed with him and decided to hold the scholarship for other potential kids from this class or carry it over to next year.
It isn’t as if a lot of schools were offering Bruce.
I guess that seems to be the most plausible explanation. Still sucks to see us pull in a small recruiting class.

I would rather pull in a small class of kids that we want and hold to that scholarship for next season for a kid that we really want or give it to a walk on kid that is currently on the roster that has been busting his butt than to spend a scholarship on a project.

12:59 p.m. Florida State announced it had received and cleared the letter of intent from outside linebacker Markuss Ukeme Eligwe. The Stone Mountain, Ga. native is the second linebacker the Seminoles have landed in this defense-oriented class. The four-star recruit will be hoping to help replace the now departed Nigel Bradham. Probably not, he seems to be happy as a RB Coach
He hasn’t really shown that he wants to be a HC or else I think he would have moved on a long time ago or at the very least would have been promoted to OC a long time ago.
Now, when Tedford goes, whenever that might be I really hope the new coach keeps Gould.
When Gould leaves Cal, that will be a very sad day.

as a ucsd student. i root for Cal and I dislike ucla. Cal was my number 2 behind ucsd and i almost wish I accepted Berkeley’s admission, my major might be better here but the sports are much better up there and the vast majority of people are so apathetic here.

I’m pretty happy with everything considering everything. I think we got (imo) the most important player in this class (Zach Kline), some great WRs for him to throw to (come on Treggs!), and some great O-lineman who with coach M and coach Blazquez (sp?) are gonna be great. Combined with our last 2 recruiting classes, I’m feeling really good right now.
