Under Armour All-American Bowl Open Thread
Here is where we will discuss the action in the 2012 Under Armour All-American Bowl. The game is on ESPN at 4:30 PST and is being played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. Give it a watch!
Here are the players to keep an eye on. Each guy's name is linked to his ESPN Recruiting Profile.
To keep up with all Cal football recruiting shenanigans, check out our recruiting section and our Golden Recruiting Board.
COMMITS:
Our two Cal commits are both on the White Team (Blur). Darius will be starting tonight. YES! Zach is not. FAIL! :
QB Zach Kline, San Ramon Valley (San Ramon, CA)- #5
WR Darius Powe, Lakewood, (Lakewood, CA)- #10
Both have really performed well in practices this week, earning plenty of notice and praise from coaches and recruiting analysts alike. Let's go guys!
TARGETS:
The two primary uncommitted tragets for Cal are both on the Black Team (Highlight). We are underdogs for both, but have a more realistic shot at O'Connor:
DT Eddie Goldman, Friendship Academy (Washington DC)- #58
Top 7 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Cal, Clemson, Maryland. Expect this to be a battle between Bama and FSU. We have very litle shot uness he visits.
OG Joey O'Connor, Windsor (Windsor, CO)- #60
Top 3 of Ohio State, Cal, and Iowa. Believed to be a heavy lean to Ohio State, but we should get a visit.
Here is list of starters for each team, and the full roster for both teams is here.
Enjoy the game, leave your thoughts in the comments. Go Zach! Go Darius! Go Bears!

I am THE DOOMBRINGER. We Are Cal.
Christo Kourtzidis will definitely be watching
@ckourtzidis Christo Kourtzidis
I’m interested to see how these quarterbacks play today
Considering the White team QB is an FSU commit and our own Zach Kline is backing him up, will this duel hold weight?
no bear, no care
it certainly could
but i happen to think we may even be ahead of FSU for Kourt at this juncture, even if he’s still committed there.
his visit to Tallahassee will have a much bigger bearing on his decision than the QB’s tonight IMO.
I am THE DOOMBRINGER. We Are Cal.
im with you
i think Zach Kline is 1 important part of the puzzle…
Brandon Beaver:
“Cal wholes season is based on how Zach Kline does”
Kline and the dude who will publically announce Saturday are the linchpins of this class
we don’t have the kind of class we do without either of them. guys gravitate to them, and want to play with them.

So the Armond Armstead is leaving USC
And lists ND Auburn and Arkansas as potential destinations. Anyone know if this eliminates us from Arik’s consideration?
don't think so
We’re in pretty damn good with Arik. Armond would be a nice bonus, and I wouldn’t count us out on him yet.
I am THE DOOMBRINGER. We Are Cal.
both of these D-lines will be ridiculous
so all the Qb’s may be fucked. The White team is stacked at DE, while the Black team is stacked at DT. the OL’s are good, but the DL’s will be great.
Could make for an Ess-Err-See kind of defensive struggle. Just to taper everyone’s expectations.
I am THE DOOMBRINGER. We Are Cal.
