The Lions interviewed Washington running back Chris Polk, Ohio State running back Daniel Herron and [Boise State running back Doug] Martin during this week's Senior Bowl in Mobile. Detroit running back Jahvid Best is still recovering from a series of concussions and many within the organization are concerned if he will play football again.
Are the Detroit Lions getting ready to move on without Jahvid?
For his part, Jahvid told the Detroit Free Press three weeks ago that he would "definitely" be back next season.

stay away from Detroit!
if he is forced to retire, that’ll be two beloved Bears who’s careers were cut terribly short in Detroit :(

I think it would be wise of Detroit to move on wiithout Jahvid
I get the feeling that Jahvid’s career is going to get cut short, and Detroit needs some semblance of a running game, therefore spending a 3 round pick on a running back is a good decision. I want Jahvid to heal and kick ass the way I think he can (particularly within Detroit’s offense), but head injuries should not be trifled with.
Personally if I were Detroit, I’d target LaMichael James. Similar speed and explosion as best, a slightly more powerful back, with lesser pass receiving skills.
it would be irresponsible of the team's management
not to look seriously at rb’s in the draft, and probably take one pretty high.
with no running game after javid got hurt, the lions went from a contender… into the toilet.
I hope he can come back and play a full season, but i’m skeptical.
Go Bears Go
I really hope Jahvid hangs it up
He was a phenomenally gifted player but the guy has had massive concussion issues since college, and not the small ones some people get – the career threatening, season ending kind. He’s had what, three different concussions that have caused him to miss more than one game?
I know it’s early, but dude – stay home while you still have a functional brain.
And Detroit has LeShore. I’d think they’d be okay with him and Morris for going into the offseason. They need better linemen and a second WR and some significant help in the secondary more than they need a high-pick RB.
If I could kiss Nick Holt, I would. Though, with him, I’m sure it would end in deep penetration and a score

This.
The whole reason kids come to Cal is that can get a good education – you never know when it’s gonna come in handy.
Stay healthy, man – it ain’t worth your life.

Wildass speculative thought
If his pro football career really is over, I wonder if he’d come back to Cal to finish his degree and run track.
Man crush on Aaron Rodgers, since 2003.
