“negative recruiting” has a pretty vague meaning here. I’m guessing we didn’t have very nice things to say about UW.
Yeah. But Cal has emphasized NOT negative recruiting the past few years, which is one of the reasons why we’ve been so successful.

So that would mean that Cal did go negative in the recruiting process? That raises four questions in me:
1. Who was the coach that negative?
2. Was this before or after Tosh left?
3. Was it aimed at one school or coach?
4. Cal resorts to negative recruiting?
I’m only hoping this is related to Tosh’s visits when he was at Cal and that Tedford took a very different tone.

And how else can we answer questions about the UW circumstances?
I can’t see how we could answer directed questions about Lupoi’s departure without even a part of it sounding negative. In particular, if Lupoi raised some things that we had to provide an explanation about…

Tedford could have said “Tosh is a great coach. No doubt about it. He made the best decision for his family. It was our fault we could not match UW’s offer. So please don’t hate on Tosh. He’s a great coach and did what he thought was best for himself and his family.”
No, I hope Tedford was direct in explaining exactly what happened. and I think that’s what the recruits and their parents want to know too.
I would hope so too. But I guess, for his dad, even a reasonable, balanced explanation, is still going to come across as “negative”.
In such an environment, at this point, we get what we get. People are going to choose or dismiss Cal for a myriad of reasons, real and imagined.
I’m just glad, in the midst of this, we didn’t have something happen like what went down with Oklahoma forgetting to send Beaver his airline ticket for OV. That would have been the cherry on the top of all the other setbacks over the past week…

SEATTLE — At least eight sea lions have been found shot to death in the Puget Sound region in recent weeks, wildlife officials say.
The bodies of seven sea lions were recently found on the Nisqually River, south of Tacoma, all apparently shot, NBC station KING 5 of Seattle reported. On Monday, a mature male California sea lion was found dead on West Seattle’s Lincoln Park beach.

To be fair
As a student still, the only thing we do when it comes to big decisions and big work is procrastinate. The commit/decommit stuff—alright that can be a little showy. But that’s not true of everyone here—-some are just taking their sweet time.

I got to say, if I could play football (and God knows, I can’t), I would have committed to Cal before I was even in high school. That said, I agree 100% on the procrastination point . . . just because I fell in love with Cal the moment I was born doesn’t mean that these kids did and they are doing what we all do: PROCRASTINATE! :D

The bodies of seven sea lions with bullet wounds were recently found on the Nisqually River, KING-TV reports.
An eighth sea lion was found dead in West Seattle on 23 January. The Seal Sitters conservation group said it, too, had been shot.
Head coaches regard sea lions as pests because they prey on recruits.
