this would be great
but i’d like a bit more confirmation than just this tweet.

I am THE DOOMBRINGER. We Are Cal.
Dread Pirate Leach isn’t giving up
Lancers coach Dave Miller said Washington State coach Mike Leach was scheduled to visit receiver Cedric Dozier, another Pac-12 prospect out of Lakes, Tuesday. Cal was at the school in Lakewood Monday.
Dozier is still committed to the Golden Bears, but is intrigued about the possibilities of catching passes in Leach’s offense. Washington wanted Dozier to commit as a defensive back and the Blue Chip recruit wants to play receiver.
I don't get why coaches are so hard and fast about players being a particular position
bring the guy in and let him try all the position he wants to play. If he can play, let him play.

Because you have a limit to how many scholarships you can hand out each season. You have goals each offseason in which holes you want to fill. You don’t have the luxury of just getting someone for being athletic unless his name’s Keenan Allen and he’s one of the top recruits in the nation across all positions.
Also...
You probably don’t want kids thinking they’re the boss before they even set foot in the locker room. Setting your foot down and saying “We have a bunch of wide receivers and think you’d be much better off at [insert school here] at safety; we would love for you to join us as a safety.” leaves you much better off than “PLEASE COME WE’LL TAKE YOU FOR ANY POSITION YOU WANT TO PLAY JUST COME.” Kind of an exaggeration there, but to prove a point.
Well, you always run the risk of a blue-chip saying “no.” Going to college, Howie Long wanted two things: (1) to go to Boston College, and (2) to play on the Defensive Line. BC demanded he play O-Line, and bing-bang-boom, Long went to Villanova. What a mistake too, just think of all the success he could have had had he listened to that now-forgotten coach at BC.
This is definitely true, but I think you have to take that risk. I mean, if he’s one of the top 5 defensive linemen in the country and you’re asking him to play offensive lineman, that’s kind of your fault. I don’t know how often you’d run into that situation, though, where you have an athlete that’s so good he can play both at the highest level of college ball. I think that brings you back to Keenan Allen, where you just take him anyway at that point.
But for most recruits, if he’s adamant about playing a position, you don’t give in and just take him unless you have a small recruiting class that can handle bringing in people you don’t actually “need”. From what I can tell, most competitive schools over-recruit, giving out more scholarships than they actually have available, assuming that people are going to flip. It’s really unethical, but they do it. Following that train of thought, most competitive schools — the only schools realistically in the running for these recruits — don’t have the room to just take someone just because.
Just my thoughts. I may be completely wrong.
I get that
but Dozier is a Keenan Allen type.

Eh…Scout had Keenan as the #1 S in his class, Dozier as the #24 CB. Rivals had Keenan as a 6.1 5*, Dozier as a 5.8 4*….

Sweet, we’re getting double the number of commitments this year.
Now if only Shaq can commit a 3rd time.
If Shaw commits a third time, does that mean we get 3 Shaqs next year?
Also, this tweet suggests that the talk about Treggs not being a solid commit is BS.

For MLS. With each passing year the “Major” in Major Leage Soccer get less and less ironic and the Earthquakes are playing in a high school-esque stadium.

BERKELEY — Freddie Tagaloa scored 10 points and pulled down three boards in Richmond (Calif.) Salesian’s 62-41 beatdown of Sacramento on Monday night to cap off the De La Salle MLK Classic at Haas Pavilion. But, as much as the 6-foot-8, 300-pounder did on the court, it was what he did off the court, after the game, that should light up the faces of Cal football fans everywhere.
Still in his uniform after popping down to the locker room, Tagaloa came back up, and gave a smiling Jim Michalczik a warm high five and a hug.
"I’m still all Cal," Tagaloa says, smiling.

I find it funny that UW is just now willing to offer Dozier as a WR
I hope he sees through that BS and sticks with Cal. He is supposed to go on a visit to UW this weekend.
He has stuck with us this long, I hope he sees past Starks BS and Tosh’s boat and sees how UW has treated him as only a backup plan.
