Cal Men's Basketball vs. the UW Huskies Live Gamethread
California Golden Bears at Washington Huskies, Jan 19, 2012 5:30 PM PST
Swig that haterade and saddle up to watch Jorge, Harper & Company venture up north for a roundball throwdown.
The Huskies have been up and down all year, but they're a talented and dangerous team, especially playing at home. There are reports that Brandon Smith made the flight up, so our team should be near full-strength for the first time in a while. On the other hand, one of UW's leading scorers, CJ Wilcox, is out for the game with a stress fracture. Picture the world's smallest, tiniest, saddest violin. Now step on it and light the fragments on fire.
First place in the Pac-12 is up for grabs. Most teams hold serve at home - it's stealing those crucial victories on the road that wins championships. Follow it live here. Go Bears!

Since Cal seems to be strapped for cash...
What if we sort of renamed Haas?
Alaska Airlines and the University of Washington announced a partnership to rename UW’s on-campus basketball arena “Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.” The arena sponsorship is part of a five-year agreement to support University of Washington Athletics approved by the university’s Board of Regents today.
Alaska Airlines has committed $525,000 annually in cash and trade for the arena naming rights in addition to the airline’s $175,000 ongoing athletics’ sponsorship.

Easy way to figure this out. Jaymi1981 (who I presume is a girl named Jaymi born in 1981), try to give some fo these puppies belly rubs at the bar there.
I think you’ll find them very rude and inapprorpiate.
But if I go and try to give my cat a belly rub right now, he loves it!

I'll just leave this here
FIGHT ’EM
Down from the North
Comes the Purple and Gold
To skin our Golden Bear.
Washington’s ’leven will never hold
The charge of our mighty Bear.
Our team on the field
Has a line of steel,
And every man is game;
When the strength
of the Blue and Gold they feel,
Those Northmen will be tame.
So fight, fight, fight, fight,
Fight, fight, fight, fight,
FIGHT! For the Blue and the Gold;
And the team on the field
Will not bend brake or yield
And will fight like Big C teams of old.
And every time they buck the line
We’re sure our team will hold.
For victory means fame
For California’s name
So fight, fight, fight ’em California!
