I haven't done this in a while but it was time for me to do another edition of Images of the Weekend. All images are via 30fps and Bubbaprog.
It was that kind of weekend.
Just like the 49ers game, this picture is just a blur.
I had the same reaction after the Vernon Davis touchdown.
Can anyone explain the hair on the man on the left of Butler coach Brad Stevens? Anyone? Anyone?
Have a great week animals. GO NINERS!

The Niners will play the Giants at home after the Aaron Rodgers loss
Niners Nation take.
After 18 19 weeks of football, we’re down to the final four and our beloved San Francisco 49ers are in the party. More importantly, they get to host the NFC Championship Game thanks to the New York Giants rout of the Green Bay Packers. The game was tight early on, but the Giants blew this one up and never looked back, winning 37-20. Aaron Rodgers never looked comfortable and the Packers offense was too inconsistent on a day when the Giants brought their A-game.
Now, we get a renewal of one of the classic NFL rivalries. It is of course a huge rematch of a great Week 10 matchup that saw the 49ers edge out the Giants 27-20. Alex Smith made some big plays in the passing game and Justin Smith had a huge deflection to stop the Giants short of a potential tying touchdown late.
While that is of great significance, it is particularly cool that this is a sort of historical rubber match. The 49ers and Giants have a strong playoff history, but two of their last three games are in the pantheon of all-time great games. The Giants won the 1991 NFC Championship Game in arguably the most heart-breaking 49ers loss ever. The 49ers returned the favor in a 2003 wild card game when they staged the greatest comeback in postseason history.
Go Niners!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t root for the Giants, I hate those guys (old wounds, yeah I know they’re not the same guys, but whatever), but now I’m really glad we have one more home game. Yesterday’s game against the Saints was easily in my top 5 of exciting Niners games of all time; what a game. So glad for the team and Alex Smith.
Am I known as Cugel the Clever for nothing?
I want payback for 1990. The Niners were a Roger Craig fumble and a Matt Bahr GW FG away from a probable three-peat.

I wasn’t, then I would feel bad for rooting for the Niners to crush him. For me, this is the best of all worlds, plus another home game.
Am I known as Cugel the Clever for nothing?
Rooting for the Giants to crush him so the Niners wouldn’t have to do it? That makes no sense.

Niners Nation on the storylines for this week.
Link
There will be plenty of storylines, and thanks to the Packers losing we won’t have 10,000 stories about the 2005 NFL Draft. Instead, we’ll get a lot more pertinent football breakdowns to give us a better idea of what this matchup means. There are tons of great matchups in what I think could be a respectable sequel to the regular season matchup.
The 49ers secondary will face a group of receivers that are as good as any they have faced this season. While the Saints have a prolific offense, they spread the ball around to so many different players. The Giants can spread it around, but Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham bring some serious skills to the table.
Although the 49ers did get burned on some big plays yesterday, they also did some great work more often than not. Carlos Rogers, Chris Culliver and Tarell Brown all made huge plays yesterday, and could get just as many opportunities on Sunday. The 49ers secondary versus the Giants wide receivers will be one of the most important matchup of the day.
A storyline that will get a little bit of play is the weather report. The folks at weather.com are projecting a mix of light showers and steady run starting Wednesday and lasting through Sunday. The Giants aren’t an indoor attack like the Saints, but they will still look to pass frequently on Sunday. It will be interesting to see what a muddy field can do to slow that high flying attack.
And of course the history storyline will get as played out as anything. This will be the eighth postseason matchup between these two teams, which is the highest for the 49ers. They have had some epic contests (2003, 1991) and some one-sided beatdowns (1994, 1987). After last week, I think my heart could use a comfortable 49ers victory.

I feel like the Niners can handle the Giants. If the Niners D plays like it did yesterday, I think they will win.
I think that the Patriots will win in the AFC, but I have a bad feeling that if it was Niners-Patriots, the Patriots would win.

Niners-Ravens would also be a difficult matchup. In fact I think it’s more likely they beat the Pats (Niners D could stop ‘em?) than the Ravens (Niners O can’t move the ball whatsoever).
Of course, have to beat the red hot Giants first.

Cal girls basketball beat Utah this weekend
Nick’s take
I’ve talked recently about how Cal is capable of winning games by playing with different styles and paces, but you usually don’t see them prove it within the same game. Utah came into this game playing almost the slowest pace in the country. For 20 minutes Cal played their style, and it was ugly. Hideous. Not fun. But they still led 21-19 at halftime.
During the half the broadcast gave us a brief glimpse of the Cal locker room. It was a bit more nuanced, but Lindsay Gottleib’s message was basically “play faster!” That’s exactly what Cal did. They scored exactly double their first half total, forced Utah to play out of their comfort zone, and finished with a seven point road win to move to 4-2 in the Pac-12.

The Green Bay blog
On the Packers loss
The Green Bay Packers defensive had its usual poor performance. Poor coverage and not enough of a pass rush led to a big game for Hakeem Nicks (165 yards, 2 touchdowns) and the Giants had 422 yards of offense. The two long touchdown passes to Nicks in the first half were especially embarrassing as Charlie Peprah failed to wrap up on one tackle, and the defensive backs failed to knock a Hail Mary pass down in the end zone.
The defense had been giving up yards, while forcing turnovers this season. However, they only had one interception by Morgan Burnett, and it ended up having no effect on the game. While the defense didn’t help much, it was the offensive struggles that lost them it.
Aaron Rodgers had a respectable 264 yards passing and 2 touchdowns (plus 66 yards rushing) but that wasn’t quite up to his usual great standards this season. His one interception was a meaningless pick in the final minute after the Packers were down by 17 points. Throughout the game the offense had missed opportunity after missed opportunity.
At least 8 drops by the receivers. Several receivers (Finley, Nelson, Crabtree, Starks, Grant) all had drops, but Finley was the only one I recall having multiple drops. He also missed a wide open catch early in the fourth quarter that could have kept them in the game. No single one of these lead to the loss, but it’s almost impossible to have that many missed opportunities and expect to win.

A’s also trade Outman and Mascoso to the Rockies for Smith
Continuing their flurry of offseason moves, the A’s traded pitchers Josh Outman and Guillermo Moscoso to the Colorado Rockies on Monday for outfielder Seth Smith.
Smith, 29, who has hit .275 with 51 homers and 181 RBIs over parts of five seasons with Colorado, will be a strong candidate to start at one of the A’s corner outfield spots given the lack of inexperience among the A’s other options.

Moscoso and Outman weren’t great shakes, though the rotation could use guaranteed mediocre pitchers as insurance right now. That having been said, I can only assume that Seth Smith is the greatest defender ever, since it doesn’t seem like he can offer a lot on offense.

I don’t know if you’re kidding but I thought his rep was as an atrocious fielder. Also, he played for the Rockies so I’m sure he’ll never notice the 5000 foot drop in elevation or anything (actually I guess 5015 or so since the field at the e.coli is below sea level).

Talk about getting a raise...
Gio Gonzalez agreed to a $42 million, five-year contract with the Washington Nationals on Sunday, just three weeks after the left-hander was acquired in a trade with the A’s.
The deal includes options for two more years. It was the largest guaranteed contract for a pitcher eligible for arbitration for the first time.
The 26-year-old went 16-12 last season – a career high for wins – with a 3.12 ERA in 32 starts and was selected to his first All-Star Game.
“Gio’s ample talents are well known and chronicled,” Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said through a team spokesman. “Today’s extension was about comfort for both parties. From our end, the two option years and team control were imperative to the extended commitment.”
Gonzalez, who made $420,000 last season, is 38-32 with a 3.93 ERA in 95 games over four seasons, all with Oakland.

The Sharks lost
Coming into tonight’s game Antti Niemi’s career line against the Blackhawks was a sparkling 4-1-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .926 SV%.
He lived up those previous performances with some stellar saves, but defensive breakdowns and a swarming Chicago attack would render his efforts fruitless as the Sharks suffered their first regulation loss of the calendar year.
Joe Pavelski, Jamie McGinn, and Tommy Wingels would score for the Sharks, as Wingels scored his first NHL regulation goal of his NHL career. The Blackhawks top line of Jonathan Toews, Viktor Stalberg, and Patrick Kane were all over the ice and scoreboard tonight, putting in one of the more dominating performances against the Sharks top line in the last 30 days.

The Kings suck
1. Blowout in Philadelphia
The Kings got beat in every single quarter of this game, but really broke out in the 2nd half. The offense was stagnant, and the defense was even worse. Philadelphia was getting everything they wanted inside or out, and showcased how a team plays basketball, getting 30 assists on 47 made baskets.
2. Even Worse Blowout in Dallas
I fortunately did not have to watch this game. Franchise low 23 points in a half, 60 points in the game, 25.6% shooting from the field. Just flat out embarrassing.
I am going to do a DBD on great 80s movies...
but am watching 9-5 tonight… if you’ve never seen this movie, you should as it’s a simply brilliant capturing of the “ethos” of the turn of the decade in 1980. This was Dolly Parton’s first movie ever playing buxom secretary Dora Lee… It was a break for Jane Fonda in she plays a nervous steno pooler Judy… AndLilly Tomlin is in her prime playing under-appreciated glue-that-holds-the-office-together Violet … and Dabney Coleman is at his best playing the “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” Franklin Hart, a persona he mastered in this time period (he would follow-up with his brilliant role as director Ron Carlisle in Tootsie).
Anyway, this movie came out before many of you were born (my hip just started hurting), but it has aged very well, almost as a time capsule piece… and it has some of the funniest lines…
Without giving anything away, there is scene where the ladies think Violet may have killed Frank Hart. Violet is uncharacteristically freaking out which gives us this exchange:
Violet: Oh, God. They know about the rat poison. I might as well just turn myself in.
Doralee: Violet, it was an accident.
Violet: I’m a murderer.
Judy: No, you’re not.
Violet: I’m a murderess. I’m gonna go to the pen. My poor kids. I’m gonna lose my job.
Judy: Violet, stop this.
Violet: I’m no fool. I’ve killed the boss, you think they’re not gonna fire me for a thing like that?
This was a HUGE hit in 1980 grossing over $100M at the box office and almost $60M in rentals. Only Star Wars The Empire Strikes back made more money!
And of course the title song was a #1 hit on both the country and pop charts at the same time. Dolly was only the second woman to achieve this. Little note, Dolly got the idea for the sound of the typewriter by sort of strumming her false fingernails!
And that my friends is today’s completely random “FiatLux takes a trip down amnesia lane to his childhood…”
I think this is like the second movie I ever saw in the theater (3 years after seeing Star Wars) – at least the first one i remember.
I saw it in the theater at the time – I suspect that rather a lot of it was lost on me at the time, nothing changes. It is still funny though.
"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"
Same for me. I saw it because I liked the song. Not so much the movie.

She was very good in that movie, as you say her first one but she’d been on TV a lot before then. I’m confused by the trailers for the movie just released with Queen Latifah… you’d think Dolly totally forgot how to act. Maybe the movie’s not bad, but the trailer turned me off and I am a pretty big fan of both of them.
Anyway, when she eventually passes away people will re-discover many of the excellent songs she wrote, those that came before 9 to 5 and Islands in the Stream and the other 80s pop stuff she did.

She is one of the most prolific song writers of all time. It kills me that people don’t realize “I Will Always Love You” was not written by Whitney Houston, but by Dolly. Coat of Many Colors is one of my favorites, just a great song. Jolene. Here You Come Again (which she didn’t write). Butterfly…. I could go on and on.
I don’t know what her worth is, but I suspect it is closing in on 10 figures. She is a phenomenal business woman and philanthropist.
One of my best friends was the musical producer for Joyful Noise. The reviews are sort of mixed, but they all say the music is great. I’ve been lucky to meet both Dolly and Queen Latifah (DRINK!!!) and Dolly is as nice and genuine in person as you’d hope and expect. She is who she is. Dana is also totally cool.
Dolly was on Letterman last week and sang one of the original songs from the movie, From Here To the Moon and Back… it’s classic Dolly…. Probably too sweet for some, but I love it. My friend Merv is accompanying Dolly on that at the Piano.
You're friends with Paul?!?!?!
Yeah, pretty syrupy but she can still sell those. I would pay many zillions of dollars to see a live production of that on Broadway with Dolly and Latifah performing them.

The Dolly Parton action in our house is the more recent bluegrass album (albums?) she did. This is in large part because of my wife falling prey to the surprising availability of bluegrass on the radio hereabouts.

Apparently it drives my wife crazy that she has no idea what I’m listening to these days because it’s either in the car or on headphones while doing the dishes etc. I could just have the headphone on and nothing playing for all she knows.

watch it, but do so for what it is ;-)
It’s actually a remarkably prescient look at what is to come… remember this is 1980 where people still smoked in the office, letters were dictated, etc… by the end of the movie they are talking about on-facility day care, flexible work hours etc…
having said that, it’s just a funny movie. Some of the writing is so subtly hilarious, like what I posted above. If you watch and don’t like I’ll owe you one.
Hmmmmm....
The last time I watched a 80’s movie I missed, I was extremely disappointed. I knew about Heathers but had missed it; watched it not so long ago, and frankly I found it to be a sophomoric, smug, poorly acted (Winona Ryder was Ok) piece of extremely pretentious garbage.
I know this opinion might scandalize some, as surprisingly, it’s popular.
Am I known as Cugel the Clever for nothing?
I watched it… not at the time, but not too long afterwards. I thought it seemed like a few good ideas stretched past the point of being funny. Mind you, I do still chuckle sometimes re: “I love my dead gay son!”
"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"
I watched it at the time (I was 13) and thought it was edgy and different than most of the movies I had seen up until then. Also, that was at the height of my Winona Ryder crush, which hasn’t really gone away.

Cal wins rugby tournament at Ucla
Must be because of our inferior academic standards
California defeated UCLA, 58-0, in Sunday’s final of the UCLA Tournament. Danny Barrett and Seamus Kelly scored two tries, Alex Aronson went 6-for-8 on conversions and added two penalty kicks, and six other Golden Bears found the try zone as Cal improved to 4-0.
It was the seventh straight UCLA Tournament win for Cal, with the last six finals against the Bruins. All 50 Bears who made the trip saw action on the pitch during the weekend.
“There’s nothing not to like about this tournament,” said head coach Jack Clark. “The timing is perfect from a preseason standpoint and the tournament format provides a lot of minutes to be spread around the team.”
Prior to the tournament final, the Bears brought a frosh/soph team to Loyola Marymount, where 10 players scored 14 tries, including a hat trick by outside center James Poindexter and pairs from flanker Carl Hendrickson and wing Hunter Frisinger en route to a 95-3 victory. Scrumhalf Nicklas Boyer connected on 5-of-7 conversion and Poindexter went 6-for-7, while Lions scrumhalf Gianluca Keeler averted a shutout with his first-half penalty kick.

California sophomore Tyler Pullen saved his best for last as he placed second on the platform Sunday (Jan. 15) during the final day of the three-day Bruins Stanford Diving Invitational held at the Avery Aquatic Center. Pullen, from Pleasanton, trailed only Stanford’s Taylor Sishc and recorded a score of 295.55 for his best finish of the weekend.
It was Pullen’s highest place finish of the season other than winning the one-meter board (308.93) in the Oct. 21 dual meet versus Utah.
Other Golden Bears finishers on the platform at Stanford included freshman Thomas Selby placing fifth with a score of 257.80 and sophomore Grayson Huston finishing sixth with a mark of 248.95.

Just when you thought Tebow discussions couldn't get any more insipid...
This in Saturday’s Wall Street Journal by “Dr.” Charles K. Ross implying Tebow is getting special treatment because he is white.
Tim Tebow: What’s Race Got to Do With It?
For proof of this “Dr.” Ross pulls up some current examples of black QBs like Tebow who didn’t get the benefit of the doubt:
There have been numerous black quarterbacks that would have liked to be given the patience and opportunity Tebow has been afforded in Denver. In 1953 the Chicago Bears signed undrafted Willie Thrower from Michigan State and he made his NFL debut against the San Francisco 49ers in October. Coach George Halas allowed him to throw one pass, which he completed, taking the Bears from the sixteen yard line to the four yard line of the 49ers. Strangely, Thrower was replaced by George Blanda and several days later placed on waivers and released, with no explanation from coach Halas.
In 1955 Charlie Brackins was drafted in the sixteenth round by the Green Bay Packers out of Prairie View A&M, in a game against the Cleveland Browns he was inserted with a few minutes left in the fourth quarter. Brackins threw two incomplete passes and never played again, he was given his unconditional release and not signed by another team.
So there you go. Great, contemporary examples… because as we all know, nothing has changed in the last 50 years in the American sports landscape, particularly in the NFL… (now we need some folks to cugel the comments section)
This is one of the lamest contributed columns I have ever read in the Wall Street Journal. I’m only surprised that it’s not in the New York Times.
No, I didn’t feel that we had reached peak insipid.

the commentators were still in tebow praise mode at the end of the new england game; it’s pretty certain we’ll be forced to hear more about how great tebow is.
“So, how long have you been a black quarterback?”
Jorge Gutierrez is "The guy with the hair plays with the flair"
I'll put it this way
I absolutely do think that perceptions of Tebow are heavily influenced by the fact that he is a white evangelical, as well as the fact that he seems to have come from a privileged background and given everything he could possibly need to succeed at every step along the way.
However, I don’t see what that has to do with the perceptions and history of black QBs, necessarily.

1, I don’t agree with the “white” part. Unless you think being White is always helpful. He is a good looking, charming and thoroughly pleasant young man. That alone wins you a lot of favor in life. Then there is the Christian part which then curries (see what I did there) favor with other segments.
But that the writer had to go back to the 1950s to find examples of black QBs who could have benefited from being white like Tebow shows how ridiculous the entire premise of his column was.
I think the white part is absolutely a big part of how a lot of people perceive him. Not consciously maybe, but I definitely think that a lot of white evangelicals identify with him because he is a white evangelical. That’s a very specific identity.
I agree that the historical thing that the writer brings up doesn’t really seem to be relevant, but I do think Tebow’s identity does matter.

doesn’t hurt him.
but being evangelical does. heck, my mom knows who he is and she has 0 interest in sports unless a korean guy’s playing, and would like for him to succeed simply ’cause of his christianity.
and that’s the point. the evangelical stuff is the real thing. not him being white. to throw the white thing in there is just so lazy, particularly as this writer did it.
but who knows…have we seen a black athlete where his christianity is more important than his athletic achievements?
I don’t know. but if you’re going to posit this, you need to back it up a lot better than this guy did.
Barry Bonds, that guy always pointed to the sky after he hit a home run.

I’m not a big Tebow fan at all and I do not think he’ll succeed long term in the NFL.
However, he’s not a wholly talentless hack who just emerged out of nowhere. He did win 2 (kinda more like 1.5, but he was there and did help for the first) NatChamp in Florida. He won the Heisman (twice, right?). He also took Florida to the SEC Champ game another time and lost there.
All I’m saying is that any QB who has won 2 National Championships, a Heisman, and had sustained success at Florida deserves a shot in the NFL. He’s getting his shot right now.

I don’t think the issue some have is him getting a shot. They seem to have issue with him continuously getting shot after shot while he proves he doesn’t have what it takes. Other QB’s (not just black ones) have been pulled and benched long before they got the chances Tebow got.
Perhaps that is an indictment of what options the Broncos have more than particular attitudes towards Tebow…

Because they invested a first round draft choice in him. Jamarcus Russell had the same amount of chances. And Akili Smith. And Kyle Boller. And Tim Couch. And (name first round QB bust here).
Doesn’t matter if you’re black or white — if a franchise has invested a 1st round draft choice in a QB, that QB is going to get a lot of chances to prove that the team didn’t make a mistake.

Wooooooooooooo!! The (Anaheim) Ducks decided to not be terrible any more!!
Unfortunately, it’s too little to late.
In a game that head coach Bruce Boudreau claimed would tell the Ducks just how far they’ve come, they came to play. While the 4-2 score in itself was nice, what was even better was just how thoroughly the Ducks dominated this game. They drew first blood on a great perseverance goal from Nick Bonino and kept pouring it on, even after the Canucks tied things up in the first. In the second period, the Ducks pulled away on goals from Bobby Ryan and Jason Blake, and Blake added another early in the third as a dagger that put the Ducks up 4-1. While Vancouver scored late in the third, the outcome was never really in doubt.
All in all, a pretty decent day for Anaheim fans: both LA and SJ lose while Anaheim wins! :D

Speaking at the Iowa State Fair last year, Romney asserted that "corporations are people."

The Battle Against Food Waste
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/16/business/global/the-battle-against-food-waste.html?_r=2&ref=global
Around the world, a staggering one-third of food — or about 1.3 billion tons each year — is wasted, a study commissioned by the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization estimated last year.
Environmentalists have campaigned aggressively against the waste of water and energy, but little attention is paid to the squandering of a product, food, that uses plenty of both.
The Food and Agriculture research, which was carried out at the Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology, estimated that in Europe and North America, 280 to 300 kilograms of food, or 620 to 660 pounds, per person are wasted each year. That is more than twice the figure for developing regions like sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
In the developed world, consumers account for about one-third of the waste, discarding even food that is still edible.
The problem is a "‘disposing is cheaper than using or re-using’ attitude in industrialized countries," the U.N. agency’s report says.
In developing countries, the problems are slightly different. Because of inadequate technology, most of the waste occurs before it gets to the consumer, while the food is being grown, processed and distributed.
It’s worth avoiding simply on the grounds of budget control. My wife clamped down a lot on what she buys and is pretty consistent about using leftovers in subsequent meals (we eat a lot of soups and stews). But it was because we were both appalled at how much we were throwing away when the weekly buying plan was “get x, y, and z, and we’ll figure out what to do with it.”
"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"
I cannot believe how much food I throw away, uncooked and spoiled. My eyes are always bigger than my weekly plans when I grocery shop. I have started not really buying perishables at the supermarket and just buying meat, veggies milk and cheese at my local Real Foods on my way home from work if I am going to cook that night, which is very expensive, but probably cheaper than paying for all the food I was throwing away.
Probably cheaper. But totally more delish. Good plan.
Nothing to worry about, it's not like I've learned to open doors or anything.
by RaptorApocalypse on Jan 16, 2012 10:50 AM PST up reply actions
I think Raptor’s right – if you’re only buying what you’re going to cook, the per-visit spend might be a little higher, but the lack of waste should compensate.

We started doing this after our last trip to Spain; going to the store daily and only buying what we need for lunch/dinner that day. It lasted a while but when our work schedules changed, it went downhill fast.

Cal Football Blog found an Arik K. Armstead enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley.
If the current verbals stand, would this be Tedford’s first class with three 5* guys?
"We lose to Stanford in many sports, but if you want to make a Cal team quit, bring a weapon."
--Coach Clark
It seems that Arik is enrolled at Cal, Notre Dame and Auburn, leaving him the option to choose all three when he decides…
Armstead’s father said his team “will get home and pray on it” and make a decision by Monday morning. Armstead said he would ideally like to start attending classes as early as Tuesday. He said Sunday that he is enrolled at Cal, Notre Dame and Auburn, and that should provide all the proof needed on just how tight this three-school race is.

Todd Haley walked into the public relations office at Chiefs headquarters on a Thursday in early December. Four days before he was fired as the team’s coach, he wanted to talk about what life was like inside this organization. But he didn’t know who else might be listening.
Looking up toward the ceiling, he darted into a back hallway before hesitating. Then he turned around, going back through a door and stopping again. Haley suspected that many rooms at the team facility were bugged so that team administrators could monitor employees’ conversations. Stopping finally in a conference room, Haley said he believed his personal cellphone, a line he used before being hired by the Chiefs in 2009, had been tampered with.
Paranoid? The Chiefs have adamantly denied that they tap phones or listen in on conversations. But as the team enters another period of transition after elevating defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel last week to head coach, interviews with more than two dozen current and former employees suggest that intimidation and secrecy are among the Chiefs’ principal management styles — and that Haley wasn’t the only one with paranoid thoughts.
"When you’re mentally abused, you eventually lose it, too," one former longtime Chiefs executive said.
Since Scott Pioli was hired as general manager in January 2009, life for many inside the Chiefs’ front office has been marked by massive staff turnover, fear and insecurity about how closely they are watched. Numerous current and former staffers paint a picture of constant worry — and, in a few cases, of alleged age discrimination. Three former department heads sued the Chiefs in 2011, though the team has denied wrongdoing.
Clark Hunt, the team’s chairman and CEO, rejected the notion that Arrowhead is a difficult place to work, but he said there has been an emphasis placed on responsibility. Change, he said, is often uncomfortable.
"We needed a culture that pursued excellence," he said. "One that valued honesty and integrity, one where the employees would be held accountable."
Stability has been another matter. In the last three years, more than half the workforce has turned over, and the vast majority of senior staff members are no longer with the team. As dozens have left the organization, with some of the holdovers and new hires trying to adapt to what many described as a restrictive working environment, dread has permeated the franchise.
"The level of paranoia was probably the highest that I had ever seen it anywhere," another former high-ranking staffer said. "… If you make the wrong step, you might not be able to pay your mortgage."
yes, Pioli is trying to create the Patriots West
But i think this stuff is overblown. They interviewed a bunch of disgruntled EX employees who were removed by the new administration. You expect them to be happy about change? Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards had a very easy going organizational style that didn’t hold people accountable. While I do agree Pioli is sort of a freak when it comes to crazy details, I dont think any felony charges are going to go through.

To the CGB finance people.... I have some investing questions
I haven’t really done much investing (other than getting super fucking lucky with NVDA last year), but I’m thinking about spending more effort on it now.
Anyway I have a question regarding moving average convergence divergence (MACD) which shown on the stock graphs on Google.
I know that the divergence of the blue line (MACD) to the red line (EMA) suggests something about when to buy and sell but I’m not sure exactly what it’s suggesting. Is it that when the EMA is above the MACD line, it’s time to sell or vice versa?
Also Fidelity provides Equity Summary Score provided by StarMine (for example MSFT is very bullish (and 6/11 suggest buying). How much should I trust these?

If you decide you really like doing it, invest in a pizza stone and a bread tray. It makes a big difference.
Also, putting a tray with some ice cubes in it under the bread as it bakes helps simulate what the commercial kitchens do with their steam.
