Hi fellow CGBers! This is my first FanPost!
This FanPost by the proprietor of Pacific Standard, a bar owned by a former Cal Band drum major, got me thinking about putting together a master list on CGB of Cal bars around the country, and around the world, for our far-flung community.
I, for instance, just graduated, and am now working in Los Angeles, and am in search of a bar that will show our games carried on CSN California. It would be great to have a list available.
It's possible that such a list exists on one of the Cal Alumni Association websites, but I have yet to look, mostly out of sheer laziness. I imagine that it's possible that such a list does not yet exist, and that individual alumni association chapter websites have this information. But, since blog posts tend to be easier to edit than websites, what better place to house this information than here? I would be up for compiling this information from the internet, but we could also crowdsource in the comment section.
Thoughts?
Also, with the advent of the Pac-12 Network, will having a Cal bar nearby be as relevant? Having all of the conference's games be nationally televised will mean that we Cal expats won't have to find a bar with a satellite subscription to a regional sports network; most of us with basic cable or satellite packages will be able to watch the games at home. Or, does the draw having fellow partisans around outweigh the comforts of home?
The opinions expressed in a FanPost are, in every way, reflective of the opinions of every California Golden Blogs Marshawnthusiast. Moreover, they are reflective of every employee of SBNation, including Tyler "Blez" Bleszinski.
