United States vs. Sweden: Women's World Cup Gamethread
When: 11:30 am PDT
TV: ESPN, ESPN3
Wambach sat out training on Monday and Tuesday in a bid to rest her ailing right Achilles tendon, and given that she is sitting on a yellow card (another caution against Sweden would see her suspended for the quarterfinals), it's likely she may sit out the match. That could create an opening for Alex Morgan to garner her first start of the tournament.

No Alex Morgan in the starting lineup
if the ESPN GameCast is to be believed

2-0 now
As Sweden scores on what was arguably an own goal, after the US gives away a silly free kick.

was because
of alex morgan’s play to get the corner ;)
can we root
for the new substitution Kelley O’Hara if she went to the Furd?
WHAT COMES FIRST, CAL or AMERICA?? hahaha
at least now US won't have to face Germany until potentially the finals
getting there, however, is of course no guarantee
Who is our next opponent? And when is the game?

It's not.
The Brazilian team is faster and more technically skilled than the Swedish.
Thought our back line was slow against the Swedes? Thought that we couldn’t get any service through to our forwards? Prepare for the horror that will be the Brazilians.
The only good thing is that as a team, they haven’t been performing up to the best they can play and they’re not as disciplined as the European teams. If Hope goes insane with her saves and we manage to sneak in one or two lucky goals, we might get through the Brazilians.
