Larry Scott: The Leader The NCAA Needs But Doesn't Deserve [SBN BA]
First he revolutionized the Pac-12. Is the NCAA next? (For those wondering what I'm talking about, check out these articles by Andy Staples and Stewie Mandel.)
For those not interested with the serious, ask yourself: Is Larry Scott the real-life Batman?

actually that’s fairly bad cartography. Cal is not in Oroville, there needs to be a noticeable SF bay, USC isn’t in San Bernardino County, and SLC and Boulder aren’t in the southern parts of their state.

Hes trying to make it genuinely seem like the Mountain schools are south of the Bay schools

Fortunately, I'm confident that Larry Scott did that knowingly
Tom Hansen on the other hand…
Pac-10 ADs: You’ve had $80,000 worth of cartography lessons. Get us a channel to the ocean.
Tom Hansen: Okay, okay, okay.
(pauses)
Tom Hansen: Obviously this blue part here is land.

and, starting next season, the same league that once prompted Cal to install a Slingbox in its stadium in order for fans to watch a league road game will be able to televise all football and men’s basketball games. Mission accomplished.
I was there! Good times.

Yes, that was fun. In retrospect, it does seem vaguely pathetic, though.

did they play it on their monsterous scoreboard?

And they synced up the radio, so you could hear Starkey’s calls. This was 2006, IIRC. Longshore was sick and we won 21-3, I think.

There a few non-really old white dudes in there. Larry Scott loves diversity!

Great write-up, Avi.
The BCS should hire him so that he doesn’t become the guy who dismantled the current system and instituted a playoff. Larry, Mark Cuban’s on the line for you…..
I'd like to smell the Roses before I die.
Great article
Larry’s stock is rising like no other’s. I would love to see him blow-up and change everything that is wrong about the NCAA, but I also selfishly want him to continue doing everything he can to strengthen the Pac-12 and, in turn, Cal.

I found this wallet at Media Day, I think it belongs to Larry
