Dana Vollmer is a World Champion

Watch the video of Vollmer's swim here! (HT j.lee) Dana Vollmer won gold in the the 100M butterfly at the World Swimming Championships today in Shanghai. Vollmer beat Australian Alicia Coutts by seven hundredths of a second for the gold. Other results from Cal swimmers (past and present) include: * The USA relay team took silver in the 4x100 women's freestyle relay. The relay team included Cal alumnae Vollmer, Natalie Coughlin, and Jessica Hardy. Team Cal/USA finished a half-second behind the Dutch. * The men's USA relay team in the 4x100 meter freestyle took bronze behind Australia (gold) and France (silver). Cal alum Nathan Adrian was part of the relay team (which also featured Michael Phelps). * Cal rising junior Caitlin Leverenz took 5th in the women's 200M individual medley final today. * Coughlin had the fastest semifinal time in the 100M backstroke. She'll go for the gold tomorrow. Full results can be found here.
