Rugby Post Season: Cal vs. Life
The College Premier Division's inaugural season is officially in the books. The cream has settled to the top, leaving just eight sides to battle for the national rugby crown.
Topping the table in the Pacific Conference is #1 California (24-0, 7-0) and #2 St Mary's (12-2, 6-1). California's Golden Bear's will host the Mid South #2 side, Life University (6-1, 5-1) at St Mary's home turf for a quarterfinal match on May 7. The Gaels will be away at the Mid South #1 venue to face Arkansas State (9-0, 6-0).
Winners of the two Pacific/Mid South quarterfinal matches will square off against one another in a semifinal match in Glendale, Colo. on May 14.
Glendale's other seminfinal match will pit the winners of the Western Conference/Rugby East Conference quarterfinals against one another for the right to move on the final at Sandy, Utah on May 21.
Army (7-0,7-0) won the top spot in the Rugby East Conference with Saturday's 34-27 win over Navy (7-3, 6-1). The Cadets host Utah (11-2, 6-1) for the quarterfinal while the Western Conference #1 side, BYU (12-0, 7-0), takes on the Midshipmen.

Life U at 5-1 in conference? Is that a typo?
Great post! Crazy how many more non-premiere matches Cal plays than everyone else.
No error in that record
The Mid South Conference, which includes Life and Arkansas State, is comprised of only seven schools. The other three conferences have eight.
Oh, by the way ...
Life’s sole conference loss was at the hands of the Arkansas State Red Wolves: 26-28 back on April 2.
Life will be seeking revenge!
Cal defeated Life 15-14 in the 1982 national collegiate rugby championship match!
Yes, I am an Old Blue. Now get off my lawn.
As someone from GA....
I will be rooting for Life. But don’t worry, I don’t expect them to win this year. Don’t get me wrong, they are a really good team. And deserve to be in the CPD. But it’s the first year competing as an undergraduate side. I expect Cal to win, and maybe it will be as close as the Cal vs St. Mary’s match from earlier this season. I’ll be looking forward to the results.
Interested in seeing if ASU can play well enough at home to beat St. Mary’s.
I expect, Cal, SMC, Army and BYU in the semi-finals.
The semi-finals and finals will be available to watch on ESPN360.com. I have heard that it will be available on ESPNU as well but I don’t have any information to support that.
