"The Wish of an NFL [and ex-Golden Bear] Wife"
Jaclyn Fujita, wife of Cal football alum Scott, has written a moving and thought-provoking piece about the heartless exploitation of players in the National Football League. No professional athlete's life is as easy as it might appear from the outside, but I'm not sure any group of athletes truly earn their millions as much as those who play in the NFL.
From baseball free-agency pioneer Andy Messersmith, to vegetarian Tony Gonzalez, to the always outspoken Scott (and Jaclyn) Fujita, I absolutely LOVE the progressive Berkeley tradition of our Cal Bears! If only Pete Newell hadn't retired so early, the likes of Kareem and Bill Walton could have been OUR beloved big men; both men fit the Berkeley scene so much better than Westwood.

I sympathize (and I like Scott Fujita!), but at the end of the day, I think the biggest losers are not the players, but the fans. Blackouts, crackdowns on Internet streams, rising prices… who’s speaking for US?
Nobody, which is exactly why you should find a new sport to follow!
