Former California Golden Bear Lorenzo Alexander Hosting Charity Bowling Event March 26, 2011
It is always great to see Cal athletes giving back to their community. Lorenzo Alexander, who was named Walter Payton Man Of The Year for his charity work, is hosting a bowling event at Albany this upcoming weekend on March 26.
CalBears.com has some information up regarding the event:
ALBANY - Former Cal football player Lorenzo Alexander will host his third annual Celebrity Bowling Party to raise funds for the Lorenzo Alexander ACES Foundation at Albany Bowl on Saturday, March 26. Tickets are available now by calling (510) 350-7127 or visiting acesfoundation/events.blogspot.com.
Alexander was named the Redskins' recipient of the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for Community Service in 2010.
Other NFL players scheduled to bowl at the event include Alexander's former and current Washington teammates Andre Carter and Chris Wilson, as well as Jason Campbell and Langston Walker of the Oakland Raiders. Carter and Walker are also former Golden Bears. Bay Area coaching legend Dan "Shag" Shaughnessy and current Cal defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi are also scheduled to attend the event.
Alexander has played 60 games for the Redskins over the past four seasons after breaking into the NFL in 2006 with the Baltimore Ravens before joining Washington later the same season. He spent four seasons at Cal from 2001-04, earning second-team All-Pac-10 honors as a senior after previous back-to-back honorable mention all-conference campaigns. The Oakland native prepped locally at St. Mary's High School in Berkeley.

St. Mary’s whoot whoot!
I have classes with his niece and my math teacher was one of his coaches at St. Mary’s, and they always talk about how great of a player he is, but even a greater individual. Lorenzo is a class act and I hope a lot of people attend to support this great cause.
Is that the same St. Mary’s that just lost to my alma mater Salesian last night in the NorCal basketball finals? haha
Yea it was
It’s a bit disappointing, but it was a GREAT game. Both times played their hearts out, and the game came down to the final minutes. I was there in person and it was so exciting. And with only one senior on the team this year for St. Mary’s, chances are next year’s NorCal final is going to be St. Mary’s/Salesian, just like it’s been for now the past 3 years.
Lorenzo's HUGE in DC
In a franchise that is quite frankly something of a basket case, EVERYBODY loves what ’Zo brings to the table. Great player, better person, always fun to hear from and as great an ambassador for Cal as you could ask for in DC.
Damn my luck that I am already committed elsewhere for Saturday…
