The main page threads about the Holiday Bowl are already showing that gallows humor for which you are all noted, along with your capacity to shrug off disappointment with a list of "bah, you thought that was bad, what about [insert example of sporting debacle / disappointment here]?"

But still, given that it's always fun to look forward to the future, and with the approach of the new year we have a social construct for thinking that things might be different after an abritrary debate, what are you looking forward to in the new year?

I'll start:

• the remaining if slight hope that I might get a proper vacation next year, as opposed to spending days off at home getting into trouble for being idle
• starting the search for a new job
• the "hookers and blow" stretch of the summer when the wife and kids are out of town, even though it always turns into the "sweltering and moping" phase in which I try to find restaurants open after 10 pm
• mastering the Korg iMS-20 app I bought last night, so that I can finally fulfill my DJ Trocan destiny
