UGH!
I didn’t start watching until halftime. I think all this is my fault. I couldn’t get them to make open jumpers. I couldn’t get Cobb/Smith to make a good pass. I couldn’t get them to keep the TOs down.
At least for once the refs made the right call for us instead of against us.
And Mo Jones couldn’t quite go all Eddie House on us, though he came so very close.
At least Mo Jones didn’t go all Momo Jones on us?

I've had a chance to calm down
The 2nd half was crap, but a lot of the crap I think was just stuff that comes with an off game combined with a team that tries to force you into a scrum. The primary thing I take from the game that has lasting importance is that Bak, Behrens, Thurman are not reasonable Pac-12 contributors right now. And while Kamp and Kravish are, together they are still below average on the boards. Richard Solomon’s rebounding is critical to this team. I thought that before, but I’m not sure I understood how critical.
Without Kravish, Kamp, and Solo all playing their normal rotation minutes, we are going to struggle.
So here comes the question: why are they not? Why have they seemed to not develop??

I'd need a lot more info to know for sure
But my guess is: Bak spent his summer back home (and then couldn’t go on the Europe trip), Thurman’s just not that talented, and Behrens is young and probably never projected to anything more than a good role player even as an upperclassman.
Way too early to make any projections on Behrens. He only started playing a game ago.

You know something about a kid coming out of high school. Obviously it’s not nearly as reliable as projecting a guy after you’ve seen him for three years. A lot can change, especially with a kid whose development has been interrupted by injury. Sometimes Sean Lampley emerges. But when a Leon Powe enters a program he comes in with different expectations than a Jamal Boykin.
When I say “good role player,” I’m talking about someone like Jamal, Markuri, etc. That’s a pretty damn good thing to be, and I would take one of those in a heartbeat right now.

Friend at Maples...
…just texted me that UCLA and furd both look horrible. So confirmed, the Pac-12 sucks.
Kinda pulling for the Bruins tonight, because (1) it’s the Furd, and (2) UCLA might come out flat this weekend.

I stopped following the game at halftime
and caught the last 2 minute (from my phone thanks to PRD’s stream) and still wasn’t sure what exactly happened except that we came away with a very important W

This headline is brilliant!
It was so nice to have a stress-free game last night. From start to finish we knew we had it easily…
Jorge and Harper
It is going to be a really special night when these two are introduced before their last home game.
Two years ago was great when PC, Randle, K, Boyk and Theo took a bow, but I think this year could be just as great.
Who is not going to show up, stand and cheer for these guys? I really hope that every friend and family member that they have can make the trip to be at that game on Feb 18 so that they can see just how much the Cal family has come to LOVE these guys.
I don’t think they retire Jorge’s jersey, but I wouldn’t say it is out of the question. Haas should/will be rocking before that game starts and smiles will be all around, regardless of our record at that point or where we are in the standings.
If Monty can just continue to recruit players like those two then our program will be just fine.

Monty didn't recruit Kamp
He’s a holdover from the Ben Braun era. (Which is not to say that he should not seek to acquire more players like Harper Kamp.)
