Golden Nuggets: Cal-Washington State Score Predictions + Florida State-Boston College Open Thread
Want to discuss tonight's thriller between Boston College and Florida State? You have come to the right place.
Is there any point to making these predictions anymore? We will either be ego-inflatingly good or eye-gougingly terrible.
California 28, Washington State 24: I'd really prefer to not pick games involving California, but my bosses said I had to (insert whine). If this game were in Pullman, I'd pick the Cougars, but the Bears play better at "home," even if that's AT&T Park.
- Both Yahoo/Rivals writers (as well as a majority of their readers) pick the Bears to win.
- Cal fans predict a 37.8% chance of winning (down from 82% this summer!) while 88% of Pac-12 fans predicted the Bears will beat the Cougs.
After the jump the men's basketball team enjoys an impressive win over UCSD and Zach Maynard looks to improve by studying...Andrew Luck?!
Football
- Joe Stiglich reports from Wednesday morning's practice, in place of JO who was the unfortunate victim of company-wide layoffs. Tedford says Maynard has been working hard at improving, including going as far as watching film of Andrew Luck.
- CalBears.com has some great profiles on several players (these were originally published in the October 22nd gameday magazine): Giorgio Tavecchio, Ernest Owusu, Mychal Kendricks.
- The Bears fall to 9th in Jon Wilner's Pac-12 rankings.
- CalBears'com checks in on Bears in the pros.
- Players and coaches have rallied around Zach Maynard this week.
- Tedford, Maynard, and Keenan Allen talk about the QB position after practice. Video of their post-practice interviews.
- What to watch this week? Will the Good Bears or Bad Bears show up?
Basketball
- Once again, Faraudo will be doing his game threads this season. These are the best recaps you'll find, as they accurately capture the ebb and flow of the game. After a sluggish start, the Bears scorched UCSD 88-53.
- Faraudo reports from the post-game press conference.
- CalBears.com has a full list of quotes from the post-game press conference.
- UCLA players aren't exactly thrilled with playing at the L.A. Sports Arena.
- David Kravish is this week's guest on CalBears.com's Freshman 15.
- Signing week starts soon. Here's a look at some of Cal's targets.
- The women's team received enough votes to come in at 33rd in the top-25 poll.

LA Sports Arena is terrible . . .

It was either that or Honda Center in Anaheim . . . Ponda is MUCH nicer, but also MUCH further away. I do believe they are playing a few games in Anaheim though . . .

I just love that 50% difference between our expected chances of winning and what everyone else thinks. It’s so CAL
Non Cal fans are simply going off of names and recent reputations. They simply see WSU and think terrible and they probably don’t follow Cal closely enough to know what are weaknesses are and how we have struggled this season.
I think this game will be closer than it should be but Cal ends up winning by 7.

If they are going off recent reputations, then they would vote like us. Maybe there is still a rosy shine from 5 years ago.
I HATE IT
when you use the word rose in any form…
Moar predictions
Wilner picks Cal to win but not cover the spread (9.5)
Phil Steele picks Cal to win by 10 and his simulations predict Cal will outscore WSU 30-21 on average (winning 84% of the time).
