I'M Tony Gonzalez??
lol that was hilarious.
and yeah, “University of California” is technically correct, since that’s how we’re known for sporting purposes. Hence the reason that you always see “California” as the name next to the score, especially on national broadcasts.

We need to start instructing our players to say that when they go to the NFL . . . I really enjoyed that. **** the other 9 UC campuses, we are THE University of California.

I really like the fact that this entire thread so far has been dedicated to what school the former Cal players said that they were from . . .

So the Green Bay defense has been a bit iffy so far
One fumble has taken away Aaron’s only drive, and now he’s down 14-0 just like that.

A BIT iffy? 2 possessions = 2 TDs . . . not good at all. The Green Bay offense better show up.

Starks running style is really delightfully janky

Two starters out on the Green Bay o line means Aaron might be running for his life like 2009 again.

And yet! A-Rod still torched a bunch of defenses in 2009.

Not a huge Bob Costas fan
But he earned major points with a nice Al Davis retrospective, followed up immediately by bashing the his own network’s upcoming programming.

Bob Costas is at his best with his Olympic coverage.
Especially when he’s doing the non-primetime stuff, he is highly entertaining. As I recall, he’s better during the Winter Olympics than the summer variety.

No one throws on the run better than Aaron Rodgers.
Absolutely no one. Incredible.

Too bad they had that Bear-on-Bear violence earlier in the night when DeCoud nearly tackled Rodgers. =(

Chris Collinsworth with the horribly irresponsible comment
“The slide killed him there – Ryan would’ve made the first down if he would’ve just gone headfirst.”
Advocating a headfirst dive for a QB, Chris? Come on, that’s terrible.

agree with the call, but hate that rule
Dude had the ball and two feet in before he was forced out of bounds, that should be a CATCH. It was the right call by the ref according to the rule, but I think it’s a stupid rule.

The ultimate "What if?" for Cal fans
What if Aaron Rodgers returned for his senior season in 2005? That team somehow managed to win eight games, including a bowl, despite having Joe Ayoob at QB. With Desean Jackson and Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett and Craig Stevens, plus one of the best defenses of the Gregory era, I think that team beats USC and then gets the ultimate revenge match against Texas in the Rose Bowl for the National Championship. But alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.
Go Bears!

The 2005 team
Also had a great offensive line. That was the year that Marshawn rushed for over 1,000 and Forsett ran for 999. Almost had two 1,000 yard rushers!
(Anthony Wallace and Russell White in 1990 was the last time we did that, BTW.)
