Six UCLA Players Suspended For Cal Game
Technically five-and-a-half. The question is how many rushing yards will Johnathan Franklin now pile on us? 250? 250 by halftime???
Senior wide receiver Taylor Embree - Two-game suspension
Sophomore guard Alberto Cid - Half-game suspension
Sophomore wide receiver Randall Carroll - One-game suspension
Sophomore wide receiver Shaq Evans - One-game suspension
Sophomore wide receiver Ricky Marvray - One-game suspension
Sophomore defensive tackle Cassius Marsh - Two-game suspension (consecutive games)

Marsh is pretty much their best defensive lineman….almost committed to Cal before he went weird….seems like half their WR will be gone for our game…..too bad so sad…
Yeah, what’s with us dodging some of these recruits that go sour. Marsh and Hasiak ended up at UCLA, and I’m kind of glad it worked out that way. Then we had Martin, but he left before anything too crazy happened… It seems we’ve been kind of lucky with this.
Big deal...
Almost all are starters.

Marsh is probably their best DT, even though they’ve all kinda been meh this year.
Embree, Evans and Carroll are three of their top four receiving targets. Leaves them with Rosario (hands of wood) and Smith (good returner, meh route-runner).
Cid is the main backup O-lineman.
Will probably force UCLA to run, run, run.

Honestly...
As long as we don’t give the ball away, this could be an UGLY game. One where we’re double digit favorites, especially if we beat Utah.

I think we’ll be 5-7 point favorites unless we absolutely steamroll Utah.

But frankly, they played like a team that gave up on their coach, so as long as that guy is still on the sidelines I’m not expecting much of an effort from UCLA’s players, no matter which ones are actually on the field.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
Yeah, it’s kinda sad to watch a team that has no will to play. Even Presby had some spunk and they knew they were million-point underdogs. UCLA on the other hand looks like zombies trying to play football.

…now that you’ve said this I’m expecting the most fired up team we’ve seen all year, spirited backups and ne’er-get-to-plays giving it their all in one last hurrah, downing Cal 30-28 on a last second fg.
Thanks, nick.

About a big a deal as a solar powered flashlight
I came back to my apartment late last night and saw the score, and couldn’t stop laughing. UCLA embarrassed themselves big time on national television. The only chance they have against Cal is if they play really angry with a chip on their shoulder. Otherwise, I’ll be at the Rose Bowl expecting an easy win for Cal.
Everyone here at ucla is beyond pissed at our idiot AD Dan Guerrerror. And no one likes Slick Rick either.

they'll use the game against Cal to make a statement that they still play with pride....
…and steamroll us.
After making such statement they’ll be content to let the rest of their season tank. Looking back, we’ll have lost to a terrible UCLA team.

I know what you mean but looking at this objectively (and ironically, the bias here is actually against our teams
I think if Rick Neuheisel was fired, UCLA would win this game convincingly. I think UCLA has more talent, but the players have been poorly coached, and they simply don’t come out and play their hardest for Slick Rick. Otherwise, they will play another uninspired game for a coach that promised them and the city of Los angeles that UCLA would become relevant again.

not to get ahead of myself,
but this game’ll actually be closer than we think. But that’s no way to pump sunshine! we’ll win the rest of the season out and win our bowl game in convincing fashion! (whimper)

UCLA fans are talking about leaving as soon as the game starts, or wearing paper bags in protest of AD Dan Guerrero
I’ll enjoy this one, as my two teams go head to head. UCLA’s futility is getting hilarious to watch though.

This is blasphemy to say at UCLA but we really are a basketball school. And our AD almost tried to take that away from us.

either way it's going to be Bear Territory
It’s always fun beating up on those baby bruins. Unless they beat us. Then it’s DOOOM.
We really need to focus on Utah but I’m looking forward to competitive football after what’s been a long three weeks.
GO BEARS!
UCLA fans are talking about leaving as soon as the game starts
Well, they’d actually have to show up, first.
That being said, I expect their giant d-bag tight end to get about seven TDs on us, as a means of complementing the 750 yards of rushing the uclol offense piles on us.
Being an Old Blue means never accepting success.
Giant Tight End? What?!
Oh, you mean 6’8’’ sure-catcher tight end Joseph Fauria! Here’s a tip, don’t talk about him too loud, because Rick Neuheisel doesn’t know he exists yet! Shhhhhhh!

Saw this in an ESPN story
Neuheisel is 18-26 in three and a half seasons in Westwood. The Bruins are 3-4, but have a favorable schedule ahead with California coming to the Rose Bowl next weekend. Neuheisel is in the fourth year of a five-year contract with an annual salary of $1.25 million.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we need to pin this up after the Utah game. I’m hoping we put the hurt on UCLA again this year. It will feel so good if we just destroy them and put them out of their misery.
People look at the 0-3 conference record and automatically assume that Cal is back to being a Holmoe-esque team. I had the AUDACITY to say that (before the Ucla-’Zona game) that if one just looks at the schedule, the Bruins will probably be 5-7 (I am now saying 4-8). Back when I made that statement, I made it clear that Cal, ASU, Utah, and USC are superior teams and that they would need to take one of those games just to be bowl eligible with their best chance of getting that one win against either Cal or Utah (now, they need 2 wins out of those 4). Bruin fans immediately said that I had no idea what I was talking about and that there is no way that 0-3 in the conference Cal would be favored going into the Rose Bowl against a 2-2 in the conference Bruin squad. People forget that our losses are to UW and Oregon on the road and USC, a team that always seems to have our number. 2009 and 2010 may be in the past, but we lost to all three of those schools then as well, yet we found a way to beat the Bruins both in Berkeley and Pasadena in 2010 and 2009 respectively.
Sure, Cal is no juggernaut, but I am pretty sure that we are better than Ucla. Am I saying we will win? Of course not, I am a big believer in DOOOOOM, especially when I am in attendance on the road (0-3 in the past 2 years), but will we be favored to win? I’d bet on it.

I say we’re going to lose Joe Ayoob style. We’ve played sloppily ever since the beginning of the season. we’ll have at least 1 crucial INT (heck, Maynard had a pick 6 vs Presby).

Mark my words
I never bet on CAL… but I would be very tempted to bet big on CAL today against Utah.
I posted this and I’ll keep saying it (and may look like an idiot after the fact) but the USC game looked far worse than it was. This team is not bad. Our QB is not bad – he is inexperienced at PAC 10 level of play and guess what? Utah is not a PAC 10 level team yet (sorry, they’re not).
Tedford almost has his play design and calling mojo back.
Our running backs aren’t bad.
Special teams, with a couple of notable exceptions, have improved greatly.\
Defense is sound.
We just don’t see all of that because of the 0-3 conference record and loss to USC.
The best thing I ever did was rewatch the USC atrocity because I’m telling you, this team is not bad. 2nd half of the season starts today and I like our chances a lot.
GO BEARS!!!
We're gonna win!
Because everyone is betting against us!

I may look like an idiot (after the fact)
but i’m telling you, this is one of the all time great bets in my opinion. This has all the earmarks of people judging books by the covers. It’s total what have I seen lately…
Utah is getting a lot of credit for beating a bad Pitt team. Pitt’s wins were against Buffalo, Maine and USF. Seriously.
We’re getting slammed for our loss against SC (understandably). But you guys know how I feel about that.
I was in Tahoe this week and I almost wish I would have laid some green down on CAL… That is how strongly I feel about this particular game.
by fiatlux on Oct 22, 2011 9:27 AM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
Pitt is a bad team. I watched that Utah-Pitt game and the latter was flip flopping QBs and has one of the worst passing games I’ve seen this year. Pitt placed their true frosh QB in the game, and he had no business being on the field.
Cal should win this game by 10+ points and I would be more confident predicting that but the fact we don’t know which Cal team will show up keeps me wondering. If Cal plays 4 quarters of football at the level they can play, the will easily win.

I wouldn't be surprised if UCLA plays really well
Sort of an Arizona post-Stoops effect, like “what do we have to lose now?”
Except that in this case,
Neuheisel is still going to be there. Is that going to make a difference? Who knows? DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
by FromCtoShining(Blue)C on Oct 22, 2011 12:07 AM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, I think this is a major difference.
I’ve talked to a few former players for Neuheisel. The team stopped buying into him halfway through last season. He takes zero blame in the locker room, and blamed last year on DC Chuck Bullough. Clearly not the problem, as our defense went from above average to god-awful under new DC Jim Tresey. The team doesn’t seem to care. Not guaranteeing a win for Cal, but don’t think UCLA has the ability to play “angry” after an embarrassing loss.

Addition by subtraction?
(that’s the sense I get from some Bruin fans about some of the suspended players)
Despite the fact that we accidentally played with 10 players on defense for an entire quarter.
