Wolfpack Fun Facts
Tomorrow Heisman hopefuls Kevin Riley, Shane Vereen, Marvin Jones, Keenan Allen, Mike Mohammed and the Golden Bears take on Colin Kaepernick and the Nevada Wolfpack. It will be our first real test this season, though, many thought Colorado was the test, leaving many people confused. What do you know about the Wolfpack outside of Kaepernick? Me.... nothing, but we're about to find out a lot more after the jump.
Nevada began the season beating Eastern washington 49-24, then steamrolled CSU 51-6. Both were at home. It's the first time Nevada has started 2-0 since 1995. Their head coach, Chris Ault, is an UNR alumnus and in his 26th year. He sports a record of 206-96-1. Nevada has not beat a ranked team since 2005 when they beat Fresno State, 38-35.
Nevada has 15 returning starters from a team that wen 7-1 for second place in the WAC last year. They also led the nation in rushing and return Kaepernick and senior RB Vai Taua. This is scary, then I remember that they played the likes of Idaho, La Tech, and New Mexico State. Then I feel better. On defense, watch DE Dontay Moch, returning WAC Defensive POY.
In the history between the two programs, Cal leads 22-1-1. WUT!? Yes. Last time they played, in 1996 in Berkeley, Cal won 33-15. It was the first time the teams played each other since 1934. WUT?! So, up until 1934 we were 21-1-1. No wonder they stopped playing us.

Sweet, sweet dominance! Even 1899!!!! So, we must keep up this complete beatdown over our eastern neighbors.

Mackay Stadium
is one of the few college athletic facilities (only one I’ve ever been to) where beer is available at the concession stands. At least it was when I went to a game there last year. Major league prices, of course, and lousy beer; I think it was $7 for probably 20 oz. of Coors, Coors Light or Blue Moon. Nice to have the option, though, especially since it should be warm before and early in the game. Yesterday in Reno it was 85 at 5 p.m. dropping to 65 at 11 p.m. and the weather should be roughly the same tomorrow.
Holy crap!

This was before the forward pass!
In other words, Go Bears!
Back then Reno was just a few buildings and a very small campus
We were basically an out of town campus from the Carson City area.
