Who's Interested In Hosting A CGB Tailgate?
So, last year we had one tailgate (The awesome Cal-USC game where Riley threw 4 touchdowns and the Bears won by 50 points, if you all remember correctly). Unfortunately, due to time constraints and too many scheduling difficulties, it was the only one.
The fact is, none of us are really interested in organizing a tailgate on a week-to-week basis. ragnarok, Twist, and CBKWit have their own tailgates they need to attend. Hydro is busy learning how to cook elite tailgating dishes like butternut squash lasagna. Berkelium is in the CGB Bunker in an undisclosed location in case of terrorist attack. solarise and norcalnick
So we're going to ask you, our commenters, for help. We know some of you have tailgates or have your own tailgates. Would you be interested in taking on our fledgling band of misfits?
Here are our current but fluid criteria.
1) Something small, so probably not a frat. We don't want to feel like we're second fiddle to a bigger crowd. We have egos, you know.
2) Someone with a grill, although ragnarok can contribute supplies.
3) It'll probably run for about 1 to 2 hours ideally, and wrap up around 45 minutes before kickoff. So if there was to be a Cal-UC Davis tailgate, we'd want to start around 10:15-10:45 AM and wrap up around noon-2:15 PM.
4) Somewhere fairly close to campus and the stadium. Although we know lots of you are awesome tailgaters, we're not likely to attend if it takes too long to get there and too long to get back.
5) We'd be willing to rotate around if there are multiple and compelling candidates.
Big bonus: If you decide to take us on, ragnarok will be able to provide you with our awesome new-and-updated CGB banner (which we don't want to go to waste!).
If no one is available for this, we will aim to do at least one tailgate this year (Cal-UCLA is the early favorite).
Who's interested in doing it? Comment away!

Not I, but I would likely attend.

I’d be willing to co-host, if that makes any sense. I don’t want to fully host for 2 reasons:
1) I don’t really have the necessary equipment to host a tailgate – I don’t have a grill, folding tables, cooler, etc.
2) I don’t want to host it and have 20 people show up that didn’t bring anything to contribute to the tailgate.
I am willing to stake out a place, bring a variety of food/drink, etc. I just need an assurance that others are willing to help.

Memorial glade would be my first choice. CGB successfully tailgated there in the past and it’s a simple location with guaranteed space that most everybody knows how to get to. But I’m willing to listen to other ideas!

What’s difficult about Memorial Glade (or most anywhere in the center of campus) is getting supplies to and from the spot, since you can’t park there, and after a certain time (1.5 hrs before kickoff?) you can’t even drive there, as cops close off Galey to thru traffic — this includes everyone who doesn’t have a parking pass.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
I’ve got a couple of big coolers, and I believe there are a couple of six foot folding tables in the family somewhere (they may have been decorated in red and white before, but we would have to live with that [they would not be red and white at our tailgate]). I do not have a grill.
I’d totally be willing to get there early, schlep stuff around, bring various consumables etc.
