FLASH: Cal Takes Rugby Quarterfinal 36-0 Vs. Vols

The California rugby Bears earned their third shutout of the inaugural USA Sevens Collegiate Championship Invitational by whiffing Tennesse 36-0 in Columbus, Ohio.

The win puts Cal into a semifinal face-off with the winner of the Arizona-Ohio State match which is now being contested.

Freshman Seamus Kelly produced half the Bears' tries, earning himself a hat trick. Other tries were contributed by Colin Hawley, Derek Asbun and Dustin Muhn. Keegan Englebrecht converted half of Cal's tries to add six points to the scoreline.

In four tournament matches, the Bears have racked up a 117-point scoring advantage over their opponents, giving away only seven points to Notre Dame in pool play.

Cal's championship semifinal match will be broadcast at 12:00 noon (Pacific) on NBC's Universal Sports network.
