One of basketball's and the Pac-10's greatest figures has moved into the great beyond. Wooden died of natural causes.
Wooden started our infamous losing streak to the Bruins in 1962, a losing streak that would last an unbelievable quarter of a century long after he had left the sidelines. While Cal fans grew to hate the Bruins over that long and terrible period, we always respected Wooden, his ability to coalesce great players and mold them into the team concept. And win. Boy, could he win. 10 championships in 12 years is a feat unlikely to be repeated in the modern college hoops era.
Send your condolences over to Bruins Nation, the UCLA SBNation blog.
