Flash: Cal Ruggers Shut Out Harvard 42-0

Cal's rugby Bears opened Pool A play at the USA Sevens Collegiate Championship Invitational with a 42-0 drubbing of the Harvard Crimson.

Cal scored on six tries by five players with sophomore Anthony Lombardo touching down twice. Keegan Englebrecht's boot was golden today as he converted all six tries to contribute 12 points to the scoreline.

Following Lombardo's efforts, freshman Seamus Kelly notched the third try of the match. Scores made by sophomore Danny Barrett, senior Dustin Muhn and junior Connor Ring completed the Bears' opening salvo.

Cal's was the only shutout of the first five matches played at Columbus Crew Stadium in Ohio.

In Pool B, San Diego State beat Florida 19-7 while Tennessee defeated Indiana 24-10. Pool C play kicked off with a 5-5 draw between Army and Arizona and finished with Navy edging out Arizona State 12-10.

Cal next faces Notre Dame at 9 am (Pacific) Saturday, followed by a 2 pm (Pacific) match against Dartmouth. The afternoon game will be broadcast live on NBC-TV.
