It's official: Amoke dismissed from the team.
Cal's official statement says: "Omondi Amoke has been dismissed from the California men’s basketball team for a violation of team rules, head coach Mike Montgomery announced Friday. Amoke had originally been suspended from the team indefinitely on March 17."

Does anyone know what he did yet specifically? This is a pretty big loss, I think.

Yeah… Didn’t one of the other players express confidence that he would return? I wonder what actually happened.

Since the team didn’t feel like they needed to release anything about what he did, I feel it’s best not to explore this any further.

Flagged. Slander.
Also, fairly tasteless.

Yes, but I don’t live in a glass house!

Well none of the windows in my apartment—technically speaking—close, so it can’t be all that much worse.

I’m sorry I don’t know who every single woman in the world is

When you put it like that, I suppose I’m sorry I don’t know all of them either.

rec’d. I wouldn’t have minded knowing more of them, certainly.

maybe big loss physically but if he’s dismissed from the team he did something stupid, and serious. rather not have troublemakers represent the university, even at the cost of a mediocre-to-good player
Remember, the enemy's end zone is DOWN!
rather not have troublemakers represent the university
Then why are you still in the Cal band???

I guess I'm not surprised
It just took too long for a decision to be made.
That’s a huge bummer for the team, but I suspect that, whatever he did, he earned it ‘cause I don’t think Monty did this without a ton of thought. I guess we’ll see more of our freshmen next year.
I'd like to smell the Roses before I die.
Yikes!
We just got a lot younger. That’s too, I guess we don’t want to end up like the Ducks. It sucks, but at least I’m glad this didn’t pay out in the media.
Am I known as Cugel the Clever for nothing?
We were already pretty young. Now? 1 senior (with only 1 year of D1), 2 juniors, assorted sophomores with no real experience, and probably the best incoming class at Cal at least since Randle/Christopher/Anderson.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
3 juniors, actually
Kamp, Zhang, and Gutierrez.

Ford Prefect: Why, what did she tell you?
Arthur Dent: I don't know, I didn't listen!
But yes
Shockingly inexperienced team. No one with experience playing starter’s minutes and really only 4 guys who’ve even spent time in a serious rotation.
Losing Amoke really damages next year’s team badly. I understand that it needed to be done— winning comes second to putting a respect-worthy team on the court— but he was the most athletic player on the team by a huge margin, and actually one of the 2 or 3 most athletic players in the entire conference.

Ok so...
can we get a stud JC PF/C recruit now
Jack "The Must, Just has no Rust, ain't no Bust, after him the ladies Lust, turns pitchers into Dust, likes his pizza with no Crust" Cust
we don't need another C
but someone who can come in and play the 3 or 4 at a high level right away? that we could use.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Robert Thurman, it’s your team now.

Oh
I never saw Kamp play, but I was under the impression that he could play the 4. Suppose hes better suited at the 5?

No, Kamp will be the starting power forward, but who’s backing him up? Who’s playing the 3? MSF+Max will buy you most of what you need at the 4, and I think we’d just go small (with Kamp a nominal 5) the rest of the time.
Freshmen will play, but they’re rarely the solution if you want to win (especially with so many freshmen playing so much).
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Solomon will back up the 4
And Crabbe will play the 3…I would think. I honestly think we could use a 5 because I dont wanna rely on MSF and Max as neither can play extended minutes and both seem fairly injury prone do to their dimensions

Well, it’s tough to bank on his knee holding up.

Short answer? No.
Arthur Dent: You know, it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young.

Arthur Dent: I don't know, I didn't listen!
So are Max and Harper the only Braun recruits left? Did Brandon Smith get picked up by Monty?
I’m hoping the 2010-11 season for the men will go similarly to the 2011-12 season for the women – plenty of freshmen jitters, but a borderline tournament team that starts playing really well together at the end of the season. I think that would be an unqualified success considering the absurd attrition facing Cal.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
You're correct about the remaining Braun players
although it’s an oddity in that they’re both juniors, and the only senior is a Montgomery player.
