What to watch for: Can Washington and Arizona St. continue their late push to make the field of 64? Can Oregon St. or Stanford overcome difficult match-ups and pull the upset? Will this be the last we have to see of Landry Fields, Quincy Pondexter, Derek Glasser, Eric Boateng, or the Tarver brothers?

Here's a question for you:
Should Cal fans root for UW and ASU for the RPI boost (hope both teams move in to the RPI top 50?)
or
Stanfurd and OSU to eliminate the more dangerous teams in the bracket? …although I think as a Cal fan I view OSU as more dangerous than UW

or
Stanfurd and OSU to eliminate the more dangerous teams in the bracket?
1. Flagged for suggesting rooting for stanfurd
2. Juju does not like this line of thinking.
Serious answer: Root for UW and ASU because I think that would ensure at least one more bid for the Pac-10 (i.e., the winner of the ASU/UW semifinal).

I don't think anyone is watching...
But Stanfurd is currently embarrassing ASU.

Following this on game tracker..
It appears that the furds have come to play tonight. They’ve led by as many as 9. Lead by 7 now with 6 minutes left in 1st.
I am a Vereenian.
It’s like ASU forgot that nobody on Stanfurd can guard Boateng. He’s only taken one shot, despite the fact that HE STILL HASN’T MISSED A FG AGAINST STANFURD ALL SEASON!!!
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
The teams combined for 3 points (a Kuksiks 3 pointer) between the 8 minute timeout and the 4 minute timeout. Is this as riveting on TV as it is on gametracker?!?
I am a Vereenian.
I kinda stopped paying attention. ASU can only make 3’s, but Stanford is so pathetic that they’ve done nothing to take advantage of it.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
What the hell kind of defense was that...
…by stanfurd on ASU’s last possession of the half? Leave the shooter alone w/ clock running down? Hello?
Game just came on Fox Sports Ohio, BTW. Joined in progress after the end of some minor league hockey game. Columbus Blue Jackets, or something like that.
I am a Vereenian.
Glasser cuts the deficit to one with another three to end the half. Stanford just played about as good as they’re capable of playing (at least on defense) and they have a 1 point lead to show for it.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
We could be rong
38-32 stanfurd at the 16 minute timeout. Boateng on bench with 4 fouls for ASU.
I am a Vereenian.
Stanfurd is refusing to go down
7 point lead and Fields is going to the line after fooling the ref into an idiotic foul call after he jumped into a stationary ASU player.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
Let’s suppose stanfurd wins this game, then UW beats OSU later, and then UW beats stanfurd tomorrow. Further suppose that UW then loses to Cal in the final (just a hypothetical, juju! Do not hat!)
ASU out and UW in the NCAA tournament in that situation? Both teams on the bubble now. I’m guessing 2 wins gets UW into the tourney, trumping the fact that that ASU finished ahead of them in the conference standings.
I am a Vereenian.
Can somebody explain to me how a 3.03 in MassComm earns you the Scholar Athlete of the Year award?
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
hopefully there are no college athletes reading this but
hitting a 3.0 for an athlete is an accomplishment, apparently better than anything any other of the players did academically.
What did i tell you...didn't I say they would win? Yeah that's right I did didn't ? Wait.. what? They LOST?!?!?
Well, I agree that it’s good, and commendable. But best in the conference?

ASU is playing like crap
Every possession seems to end in a low quality 3 pointer or a turnover

5-0 run
Maybe there’s a little bit of hope now? At least it looks like they care again

Baseball: Bears beat #9 Rice
8-6, after Cal started up 6-0. Erik Johnson with the win.

If stanfurd wins this...
I will reconsider going to tomorrow’s game, and will subsequently buy tickets to Saturday’s game.
you know, if a certain unsaid but favored team were to make it too…

Seriously, if you just put a wig on Craig Robinson, you would not be able to tell he wasn’t his sister. I have never before seen male/female siblings who look that much alike.
What about Brook and Robin Lopez?

Yes, but...
Stanford doesnt match up horribly against OSU and they could easily beat them. Could you imagine an easier final matchup than Stanford?

In fact,
Stanford is 2-0 against OSU this year

Cunningham’s injury might be a huge blessing for them.

Won’t matter if OSU keeps on going 100% from 3 point land.

Well, it’s nice that the Pac-10 tournament is just like the regular season – the only team with any modicum of consistency and predictability is Cal.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
Cal was only really consistent at the end though. In the middle they weren’t much better than anyone else.

Man, somebody better beat the Beavers…I do NOT want to see them in the finals.
There are under 4 minutes left in the half, and UW has 16 points. Ugh.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Good news is the Furd killed them this season
Beat them by 24 at Maples and 10 at home.

And what's with all this finals talk.
We still have a midterm against the Bruins!

a) We’re playing the Bruins tomorrow regardless. I’m watching the OSU-UW game, so that’s what I’m commenting on.
b) I don’t want to watch the Beavers play any more than I have to regardless of the consequences for Cal. Ug-ly.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
If this was the NBA, there’d be so many defensive 3 second violations on the Beavers. 30 technical free throws a game!

OSU by 9 at the half. Looking more and more like either a one bid or one plus a total scrub bid league. Am positive neither ASU nor Washington will be dancing.
Nothing we can do about it
Just gotta take care of business now.

From Farudo's gamenotes on beartalk:
With one more win, the Bears will have 23 — matching the most they’ve had in a season since the 1960 team that was 28-2 and lost in the national championship game. The Bears’ 1996-97 and 2001-02 teams both won 23 games.
Man, I knew Cal didn’t have much history in the last 50 years, but I thought we’d have won more than 22 games in a season in that time.

I would love to see a wide crowd shot to see just how many people are there. From what we can see, courtside sections are less than half full. Corners are completely empty. But The Glove is there. And Adam Duritz tweeted earlier that he was at the Cal game.
It’s really bad. Staples Center prices are really exorbitant for anyone that isn’t a student. Which means tomorrow our game could have plenty of UCLA fans.

On Stubhub they’re going from $25 (nosebleeds) to $322 (plush seats) for the semis, and $17 to $1487 (luxury boxes?) for the final.

Cal was going right to left in the first half and left to right in the second half on my TV. Not sure whether that means anything.

Stupid tournament
We should beat UCLA, but it’s a road game because of the bribery to persuade the Bruins to allow a stupid tournament.
Part of me would rather we lose than play a third game, but I don’t want to lose to UCLA. Yuck. So I must root for a win.
from the UCLA-Arizona recap
Instead of playing for another title, though, the fourth-seeded Wildcats and No. 5 Bruins were relegated to an afternoon quarterfinal game in a half-empty Staples Center that had more Arizona fans than those rooting for the local Bruins.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
I doubt this will be the case for our game
Students are getting in for 10 bucks.
