Here's a question for you:

Should Cal fans root for UW and ASU for the RPI boost (hope both teams move in to the RPI top 50?)
or
Stanfurd and OSU to eliminate the more dangerous teams in the bracket? …although I think as a Cal fan I view OSU as more dangerous than UW

or
Stanfurd and OSU to eliminate the more dangerous teams in the bracket?

1. Flagged for suggesting rooting for stanfurd
2. Juju does not like this line of thinking.

Serious answer: Root for UW and ASU because I think that would ensure at least one more bid for the Pac-10 (i.e., the winner of the ASU/UW semifinal).

I don't think anyone is watching...

But Stanfurd is currently embarrassing ASU.

Following this on game tracker..

It appears that the furds have come to play tonight. They’ve led by as many as 9. Lead by 7 now with 6 minutes left in 1st.

I am a Vereenian.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 6:38 PM PST reply actions

It’s like ASU forgot that nobody on Stanfurd can guard Boateng. He’s only taken one shot, despite the fact that HE STILL HASN’T MISSED A FG AGAINST STANFURD ALL SEASON!!!

yeah, he picked up two in the space of 20 seconds with 5 left in the half.

The teams combined for 3 points (a Kuksiks 3 pointer) between the 8 minute timeout and the 4 minute timeout. Is this as riveting on TV as it is on gametracker?!?

I am a Vereenian.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 6:49 PM PST reply actions

I kinda stopped paying attention. ASU can only make 3’s, but Stanford is so pathetic that they’ve done nothing to take advantage of it.

The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS

by norcalnick on Mar 11, 2010 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

Jeremy Green just made a 3 pointer, per game tracker. It was stanfurd’s first points in more than 5 minutes. Broke a 9-0 ASU run.

I am a Vereenian.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 6:52 PM PST up reply actions

What the hell kind of defense was that...

…by stanfurd on ASU’s last possession of the half? Leave the shooter alone w/ clock running down? Hello?

Game just came on Fox Sports Ohio, BTW. Joined in progress after the end of some minor league hockey game. Columbus Blue Jackets, or something like that.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 6:55 PM PST reply actions

Glasser cuts the deficit to one with another three to end the half. Stanford just played about as good as they’re capable of playing (at least on defense) and they have a 1 point lead to show for it.

We could be rong

38-32 stanfurd at the 16 minute timeout. Boateng on bench with 4 fouls for ASU.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 7:18 PM PST up reply actions

Stanfurd is refusing to go down

7 point lead and Fields is going to the line after fooling the ref into an idiotic foul call after he jumped into a stationary ASU player.

by norcalnick on Mar 11, 2010 7:18 PM PST reply actions

Let’s suppose stanfurd wins this game, then UW beats OSU later, and then UW beats stanfurd tomorrow. Further suppose that UW then loses to Cal in the final (just a hypothetical, juju! Do not hat!)

ASU out and UW in the NCAA tournament in that situation? Both teams on the bubble now. I’m guessing 2 wins gets UW into the tourney, trumping the fact that that ASU finished ahead of them in the conference standings.

I am a Vereenian.

by Ohio Bear on Mar 11, 2010 7:22 PM PST up reply actions

The problem there is that UW is beating two bad teams instead of one bad team and one good team. But apparently every other bubble team is losing, so I guess winning, no matter the competition, is enough this year.

From Farudo's gamenotes on beartalk:
With one more win, the Bears will have 23 — matching the most they’ve had in a season since the 1960 team that was 28-2 and lost in the national championship game. The Bears’ 1996-97 and 2001-02 teams both won 23 games.

Man, I knew Cal didn’t have much history in the last 50 years, but I thought we’d have won more than 22 games in a season in that time.
