I generally like the Indy Mannings, but the Colts also released Donte Hughes and Giordano (who are now on the Chargers and Packers respectively).

Anyone else find it nearly impossible to watch this Colts offense. If Manning audible on every single play – doesn’t that indicate that their offensive coordinator is never actually calling the right play.

Manning has been their OC for years, hasn’t he?

by Avinash Kunnath on Feb 7, 2010 4:24 PM PST up reply actions

I guess so – and it is often out of a no-huddle, so I guess the “audible” really could just be the play call. Either way, it is annoying.

by Tedfordisgod on Feb 7, 2010 4:28 PM PST up reply actions

He’s always reading and reacting to the coverage schemes. Definitely makes the offense hum better, so I’m not sure why you dislike it.

IMO, Manning’s offensive intelligence is something to be admired

It is just frustrating as a fan to have the QB call an audible on every play.

by Tedfordisgod on Feb 7, 2010 5:02 PM PST up reply actions

How much did Rodgers use to audible? I remember him doing it a bit.

True, I guess it is easier to tolerate when it is your quarterback being annoying.

NFL rules are awful

Wait, so a defensive PI call gets you to the spot or on the 1/2 yard line, but an offensive PI call, in the endzone that breaks up a sure interception is a 10 yard penalty without a loss of down. That makes sense.

by Tedfordisgod on Feb 7, 2010 6:43 PM PST reply actions

The spot foul on PI in the NFL has to go. That’s WAY worse a rule than the sudden death OT, yet not nearly as reviled by the NFL fan masses.

by Ohio Bear on Feb 7, 2010 7:02 PM PST up reply actions

The whole league is not structured to chuck the ball downfield and get a PI call. For some reason, it took coaches decades to figure this out, but it really is becoming a problem. And the imbalance between offensive and defensive PI really is inconsistent with any sense of fairness.

by Tedfordisgod on Feb 7, 2010 7:05 PM PST up reply actions

that should read “now structured”

Drew Brees

So the guy took Purdue to a Rose Bowl and the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl championship. Now that’s impressive.

In other words, Go Bears!

by royrules22 on Feb 7, 2010 8:39 PM PST reply actions

Gotta say, that was one of the best Super Bowls I’ve ever watched. Both teams played very well – There weren’t many penalties, the offenses were very well executed but the defenses made each team earn whatever they got. Ultimately, one great play (Tracy Porter jumping the slant pattern) won the game. Glad it went to a fun team like the Saints and a city that will enjoy the euphoria to the hilt. Who Dat!
