"I never went to a bowl game at Cal or anything, so this is my first bowl game experience," Fujita told a television reporter from Japan. "I basically sucked my whole life." Well, not Fujita himself as much as his teams. He never played for a Pop Warner title. He never played for a high school section championship. Cal, with coach Tom Holmoe, couldn't get Fujita to so much as the Las Vegas Bowl.
