Me like a lot.
The month is off to a good start. Hopefully it will continue.

Sorry but...
Didn’t we play Utah in southern California?

Yes, I also take issue with his sig, but I think he means “Los Angeles” and the DBD decided that San Diego was more “northern Mexico.”
Correct...
And personally, I remain undefeated in Southern California since Oct. 2009. In what you may ask? That will soon be revealed…
Undefeated in Southern California since Oct. 2009...
That cements what seems to be the best class Tedford has put together at Cal.
If we land any of the other big names by signing day it’ll be a huge bonus. Without King this was a solid class, but now it seems like an awesome one.
2007
I’d say that this was a pretty damn good class too:
Cameron Jordan, Chris Conte, Devin Bishop, Matt Summers-Gavin, Sean Cattouse, Mitchell Schwartz, Jahvid Best, Skylar Curran, D.J. Holt, Bryan Anger, Shane Vereen, Justin Cheadle, Alex Lagemann
beheamoth class. you know, without a QB

Can we not frontpage this maybe?
King wants to keep this a secret ya know..
In other words, Go Bears!
I find it highly doubtful that we’d be the straw that broke the camels back.

Perhaps there are some non-schmucks who read the site that we ought to be mindful of? Unlikely I know…
Well, Kaelin Clay’s mom did comment on the Scout board, saying how cruel the posters were for knocking her son. If I saw random shmuck’s on the internet calling my kid undeserving and not talented enough, I’d be pissed.
Quantity AND quantity!
That’s funny – my feeling is that (1) It is ridiculous to criticize high school players on-line, and that if people are doing that, they need to get lives and (2) If a kid gets his feelings hurt bad enough that his mom comments on the board, we probably don’t want that kid.
Also, I think people really shouldn’t be able to be more into recruiting than me. Here is how far I take it (1) Figure out the top 3 to 5 players who have expressed interest in Cal. Follow those three to five. (2) On signing day, look at the rest of the list.
The only players who make a major difference are the five-stars (think DeSean, Marshawn, SQT) otherwise I think it hardly matters – more four or three stars I guess is a good think, but as I recall Justin Forsett was barely recruited, and Aaron Rodgers couldn’t even get a scholarship offer out of high school. These people don’t really know anything about evaluating talent (outside of the truly amazing players.)
Problem is the top 3 to 5 players who have expressed interest in Cal keep on changing every week. It’s been a most unusual year for recruiting.

Yes, especially because we apparently only can get top players on defense now. It seems to me that we have one of the best defensive recruiting classes in the nation, but no real standouts on offense. Totally the opposite of a few years ago.
We got some solid (if a little under-the-radar) receivers, some OL, and potentially 2 QB. I think we’re in pretty good shape.

I think that’s more dismissive than it needs to be. More stars do correlate with winning, so to some extent, there’s some worth to the rankings. Just because they can’t perfect predict the future doesn’t make the entire thing worthless. My two cents is anyone that follows recruiting closely has serious issues, but come signing day, to browse the list, check out where the class is – yeah, nothing wrong with that, it IS better to have a good class than a bad one. Helps set expectations.

Yeah, obviously there is the general correlation between more stars and more success. But I don’t think that guys with zero stars should be considered inferior to the Cal commits who have three or four stars. They all did something to earn that scholarship. As I recall, Justin Forsett was basically unrecruited. On that one, I trust our talent evaluators much more than I trust Rivals/Scout.
Tedford has had a lots of success with a team full of nobodies (2002) and a lot of fail with teams full of superstars (2007).
(1) It is ridiculous to criticize high school players on-line, and that if people are doing that, they need to get lives and (2) If a kid gets his feelings hurt bad enough that his mom comments on the board, we probably don’t want that kid.
Agree 100%, except that it was his mom that had her feelings hurt, not the son. However, if two schools are 100% equal and one has publicly dickheaded fans while the other has welcoming fans….well, which would you choose?
Quantity AND quantity!
the dickheads, easy.

True, no doubt. I mean, (1) on that list is more outrageous to me. But in terms of (2), kids can be crazy – see DeSean largely picking Cal because he wasn’t respected enough by USC or something like that. (You would think a scholarship offer to USC (in 2005) was a decent amount of respect).
I think we should change the title to “Jonathon Okanes is allegedly reporting that Gabe King has allegedly set up a committee to look into passing a non-binding resolution to hire somebody to create a timetable for allegedly committing to Cal.” I think we’ll have sufficiently hedged our bets by that point.

Make sure to rub him behind the ears. He always liked that. And if he won’t take his worm medicine, use a little bit of peanut butter on a knife.

The "O" stands for "Oh dear god, when does football season start again?"
Oh, I should clarify. Gabe came out to South Eugene High for his senior year of high school, which is where the whole “Gabe-is-dog-we-were-forced-to-give-up” metaphor came from.

Dunno where to post this, but....
There’s chatter on the scout board that keenan allen is also committing to cal. This is obviously all hearsay, but ‘bama “insiders” are saying it’s a done deal.
i'm here to clean your pool but i don't have a pool *bowchica bowow*
The Bama insiders are just trying to get us excited so our hopes will be crushed like sad little ants under a steel-toed construction boot on Wednesday.
