Surprising . . . unless the Stanfurd AD is completely lying (wouldn't put is past someone from 'Furd) Harbaugh is going to be in Palo Alto for the "forseeable future."
Athletic director Bob Bowlsby made the day more noteworthy for Stanford fans by saying the school has given head coach Jim Harbaugh a proposal for a new deal "and he's indicated he plans to accept it."
Bowlsby wouldn't give any details of the proposal but said, "I expect he'll be our coach for the foreseeable future. ... I think he's happy and we're happy."
I figured he'd be on the next plane to Michigan once that position was available, but I guess I was wrong! I don't like the prospect of him staying at 'Furd for a while because he has put together a damn good team and I'd rather them be terrible . . . Tedford better up his game to regain the axe and compete for a Pac-10 title.
Also in the article:
Stanford must sell its allotment of 17,500 Orange Bowl tickets or swallow the cost of what it can't. "We'll have people coming from all over the world in all likelihood," Bowlsby said.
How confident was he that Stanford would sell its allotment? "I wouldn't want to bet my life on it, but I think we'll do well."
I wouldn't bet my life (or anything) on it either.
