Cal women's volleyball faces perhaps their stiffest test after gritting it out against Minnesota, not just because of the team they're playing, but the fact that this game will be pretty much a road contest. They're playing Washington in Seattle in their home arena, and the Husky crowd showed up in big numbers for their upset of Nebraska yesterday. Can Cal get it done?
The Huskies (23-8) have won five of their last six matches heading into the regional championship; all 3-0 sweeps. Washington hosted No. 23-ranked Michigan in the first round before it took out 15th-seeded Hawaii in a stunning upset to advance to the regional semifinal. All-region senior opposite hitter Kindra Carlson had 27 kills while hitting .377 in the two matches and senior outside Becky Perry contributed 22 kills. Freshman libero Jenna Orlandini averaged 5.67 digs per set and the Huskies put up 14 blocks to hold their opponents to a .153 attack rate. Senior setter Jenna Hagglund averages 11.75 assists per set this season (second in the Pac-10). The Bears swept the season series against Washington for the first time since 2003 and have won in each of their last three visits to Seattle. The Huskies hold a 29-26 edge in the all-time series, but Cal currently owns a three-match streak overall.

Hopefully, we play better than yesteray
with crisper passing and tighter sets. We’re good enough to win without it, but obviously this is the time to be at our best. Go Bears!

Stanford
thought they had theirs too… I dunno. I’m a bit nervous about playing UW on their home court with them coming off high from their win over Nebraska.
I’m nervous, but you’ll never know…!

Yes, Lloyd is a senior.
Holford is a sophomore for Washington.
Yes, I am an Old Blue. Now get off my lawn.
Wait.
His girlfriend is on UW’s team? :o That’s interesting.
OK
Time to regroup…
Just FYI. We lost the first set badly when we played @Udub during conference play

I hate these so-called neutral courts. Make me want to punch an NCAA official. Although the huskies have upset three teams to get here.
No postseason for Cal? GO DUCKS! All aboard the bandwagon!
Poor Hawaii.
They’ve been 8 years without hosting (and fairly high ranked each time) whereas Penn State has hosted every year for about the same amount of times…
From what I can tell
UW gets to host if Portland State also makes the tournament since then they can send two teams to the regional.
We’re the better team. But our errors aren’t helping us.

Maybe caused by the crowd.
I wonder who the Nebraska and Minnesota teams are rooting for?
And their horrible choice of higher education!

Anyone else besides us who think that Carli might be more marketable post-graduation?

Depends on if
Brock makes a monster leap in execution next year. It’s … possible.
But speaking of Cal FB and VB players
Justin Forsett and Angie Pressey got married! Beautiful pictures too.
I know you’re in there somewhere!
You’re the dude singin!

Murrey's been tough on the Huskies all year
She’s continuing that tonight.

The championship trophy that they are showing when going to the ad
looks like it’s for Women’s soccer

Every championship
begins with C.
for Carli! grin
Cal wins second set 25-20
Bears win it off Allen Bridgford’s GF’s serve.
One set from the Final Four. Go Bears!
Yes, I am an Old Blue. Now get off my lawn.
Did not realize this
but Cal has won the last three year in Seattle, no wonder Carli and Meagan love playing there

Let's just hope
that that record doesn’t hold for USC since we’ve lost 0-2 this year against them. Of course, USC overcame their own 0-2 record against Stanford… so there is some hope…
also, both of our losses to $C were close. In fact, had a point here and there goes differently, we would have beat them. It sure does not look impossible to beat them (or that they hold some special advantage over us).

Timeout Huskies.
After they boo the ref for a call six inches in front of her face.
No postseason for Cal? GO DUCKS! All aboard the bandwagon!
They're just imitating
Nebraska now who went after the ref that made the call in the fourth set… :o
UW isn't helping themselves
with their attack errors seemingly every set.
She's beautiful.
Actually a lot of VB players are photogenic.
most volleyball players are rather attractive…and many of them find jobs playing and modeling in Europe

UDub uses their last timeout only halfway through the set!

Wow.
Who was that person who put the ball up as she was falling down sideways?
HEC ED IS BEAR TERRITORY!
:)
Next, to Kansas! Cal Dorothy is (hopefully) going to land a house on USC … and then Penn State / Texas. :D
Very impressive win
now it’s time to get some revenge on U$C.
