I was pleasantly surprised to see all the buildings lit up.
Then, I’ll make a big ruckus, because I am a hypocritical asshole.

They've been doing it for awhile now
I loved walking around campus during big game week with the chill in the air, and the buildings lit up blue and gold. You could feel the anticipation for the game and couldn’t wait for Saturday to finally arrive.

It wasn’t done in 2008, so take it back!

Really? I wonder why not! I remember it from every year when I was an undergraduate (except for maybe my freshman year) and that was 2003-06 Big Games.

They did it in 2008
Here’s a picture. They didn’t have anything projected on the Campanile, which was odd, because it seems to be a tradition in recent years.

This week there were images projected on the Campanile
On Monday and Tuesday there were a script Cal and Golden Bear projected on the north and west faces in gold light. I didn’t see anything from my place today and yesterday, though. I hope they’re still doing it, because it looks great!

They had a livethread for their basketball game earlier, and 90 minutes in it had one comment. I pringled, I admit.
It is not so easy to build a community on these here tubes. We wre somewhat lucky that we brought a community of 2 years to SBN when we moved and even then there was a decent chunk of time where new comments tended to come more from the mods (of which we had 5X as many as ROT) than the readers.
Fortunately, it was not so long after we moved that the whole tree sitter thing went down and people started to show up. So, what I’m sayingi s that for Rule Of Tree’s sake, I hope Dumpster Muffin moves into the Masoleum.

The treesitter coverage on CGB was mos def the turning point of this site being more than TwistNHook talking to Olsonist.
I found CGB when I was looking for coverage of the great Cal women’s basketball victory over Stanfurd in 2009, about which there was almost nothing in our local media. Twist’s photo-essay about that game was by far the best thing on the web. It’s kind of funny, because I’ve been a huge Cal football fan for 40 years, but had only just gotten interested in our women’s basketball team. Yet I didn’t find CGB because of football.
How ya gonna keep 'em down on the Farm, after they've seen Berkeley?
The crowd is going to actually be important for this game. Between the home crowd and the rain, hopefully the game will turn into enough of a cluster-f that an upset will be possible.
F Furd
The upset will be possible without any sort of cluster-f

When did they start lighting up Wheeler?
That looks really nice. I always loved the lighting during Big Game weeks.

I don't remember ever seeing the campus lighted up like this
Of course, in my day, they didn’t have electricity, sonny!
Very nice pictures!
