US Army All-American Bowl Open Thread

Normally, I'm against these glorfied exhibitions, especially of high schoolers. but there are a LOT of Cal commits and prospects in action today. chowder's got the list of future (and potential future) Golden Bears you need to watch.

List of Cal Commits and 'Considering' Players at the Army All-American Game

East:

Commit:
..Nick Forbes
..Chris Martin

Considering:
..JR Ferguson
..Gabe King
..Arie Koundjio
..Jeffrey Whitaker

West:
Commit:
..Austin Hinder
..Cecil Whiteside

Considering:
..Sean Parker
..Owa Odighizuwa (sure, he recently wrote Cal off, but maybe Martin, Whiteside, and Hinder can flip him)

Four commits, six prospects. Plenty of faces to follow in this game. And seriously, do you need an excuse to watch more football?

Game kicks off at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST, on NBC HD. Enjoy this one before all the NFL action gets kicking!

hehe, I watch this game every year – I don’t even know why. Its not very good. But for some reason, its exciting when you see a player absolutely dominate.

I want to see what Hinder can do.

How’s Martin playing for the East and Hinder for the West when they both went to school in Colorado?

Something about Martin playing for an east team, or planning on doing so when he was selected.

Wazzu or OSU seem ideal for him. ASU maybe, but it needs to be remote…

Still think the Raiders take a flyer on him if they don’t grab Harbaugh.

I’d think the Raiders would look at the many NFL coordinators

Hinder’s in the game… His OL immediately gets handled, resulting in 5 yard loss on sack.

Welcome to Cal! =P

not funny. We have a lot of young talent on the OL.

by ARod_no.8 on Jan 9, 2010 12:03 PM PST up reply actions

Sweet, he’s a good ol’ ballcoach, he’ll fit in perfectly there. Although going from scoring five TDs a game to five FGs could be jarring for Red Raiders fans.

I agree, good fit, despite the jarringly different offensive schemes.

by Kai on Jan 9, 2010 12:12 PM PST up reply actions

Supposedly Tuberville is going to leave the offensive system in place and just CEO the team/install a new defense. We’ll see.

I think that was Jake Heaps

by zachahuy on Jan 9, 2010 12:21 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Pretty sure it would’ve been Hinder or Baxter because they’ve been giving the QBs a quarter each.. (4th quarter, they put in Heaps on the first drive -with the pass to Woods- and they may switch each new drive)
