Terrance Montgomery, WR From LA, Commits to Golden Bears
Thanks to drub12 for the update!
5-foot-11, 180-pound senior wide receiver Terrance Montgomery (Los Angeles/West Adams) has committed to Cal, ESPN’s Greg Biggins reports.
"I’m a Bear," he said. "I’m so excited to be going to Cal with all their prestige and tradition. Signing day is just a week and a half away and I was starting to get a little stressed out. No one else had offered a scholarship or even a visit and then all of a sudden, I got the call from Cal about coming up this weekend."
Montgomery caught 42 passes for just over 700 yards and 13 touchdowns this fall, earning first team all-city honors.
He posted an electronically-timed 4.86 40-yard dash, 4.42 20-yard shuttle and 28.7-inch vertical at the Los Angeles Nike Combine prior to his senior year.
This comes as a little bit of a surprise, considering none of the recruiting services listed Montgomery, but hopefully the Cal recruiting staff hit another unheralded gem here. He is the first player ever from West Adams to be offered a scholarship, so maybe the lack of the school's street cred placed him way under the radar.
Shadwhand found his highlight video. solarise also noticed that the man has some speed on the track.
Tevin Carter – 11.27 (1st)

DeShawn Beck – 11.15 (11th)
Trajuan Briggs – 11.17 (12th)

Welcome to Cal Terrance! Thanks again to our recruiting contributors for parsing this info together!

Ever the optimist...
I see you believe the slower time and scoff at the faster time…
Many factors can mess up a 40 time, heck I don’t think we ever knew Jahvid’s official 40 time… I’ll take the half full approach and welcome him to the team and hopes he develops into a contributing member of the team…
Welcome home Terrance! Go Bears!
Undefeated in Southern California since Oct. 2009...
i ran a 11.6 in high school track and i rarely practiced…i should have tried out for football!
then again, i was a tiny asian boy (if you couldn’t tell by my handle) at 5’8", 125lbs. definitely heisman material!
5’8, 125? Jesus Christ, was your diet 95% air?
Quantity AND quantity!

There are a lot of new charter schools opening up here in Los Angeles, so you’re going to see a lot of kids who would have gone to recognizable LA high schools coming from schools you’ve never heard of. I talked to the LA Times guy who covers high school athletes, and he said the kid is a good athlete. I DO know that West Adams is in the heart of South Central (or South LA if you like), and there’s tons of talent in that area.

I’m taking time out of my 65 hour work week to opine JESUS CHRIST A 4.86 40 TIME IS SLOW
Proud to hold season tickets to the only NBA team soon to be owned by a Russian oligarch.
Niners tackle Joe Staley ran a faster 40 than that at the NFL combine…
