Jahvid Best declares for the NFL Draft
"Sources". All rumors, I guess, but we all were hoping against hope. We are Cal fans, after all.

sad
that his last play at cal was that devastating fall. i guess it was a touchdown after all…
is it just me—i feel like we never to experience all jahvid had to offer. his freshman season was cut short by injury and he was playing behind forsett. this year was obviously cut short and even his spectacular sophomore year he was dealing with the arm and hip issues. his cal career seems incomplete even when compared to stars like rodgers, marshawn and djax who all left early
I hear what you’re saying. As I heard this over the radio today I just got sad thinking we had DeSean Jackson and Jahvid Best in recent years and the best we have to show for it is a Holiday Bowl victory.
“Expectations Unmet, Hopes Unfulfilled” should be the official tagline of the Cal football program.
The Bear Will Not Quit
The Bear Will Not Die
Yeah kind of sad
I also feel bad for Best because he never got to play with a decent QB or passing attack while he was at Cal.
Man...
Rough actually seeing it in print.

ill miss him ,by far my favorite cal player
him and d jax are my favorite players by fa,r but if ive leaned anything its that jahvid needs to do this to make the most money possible, and were gonna be fine at cal with vereen debo sofele and yarnway and with coach gould still here we will never stop producing at rb.
Lets all just hope he kills at the combine runs a 4.2 and gets drafted in the first round so when were watching the nfl on sundays we can say " ya that guy right there, Best, he went to cal and i liked him before anyone else knew who he was".
Good Luck Jahvid!
You were a great representative of our school and football program. One of my all-time favorite Bears.
Cal Football: I loved them once and they broke my heart. Let that be a lesson to you. Never love anything.
Thanks and Good Luck Jahvid!
We will not forget you! Please don’t forget us! Go Bears!
Best of luck.
Given that I stood there in October wondering if I’d just seen the guy die on the field, I don’t blame him one little bit for making sure that the next time he does something crazy, there’s a sick paycheck in back of it. I totally concur with the “what-if” factor, though – if he can stay healthy, if the offense is more creative, if there’s any O-line at all this year…
I just hope he’s around when the ’Skins are picking.
Well done young man.
Thanks to whoever spiffed up the phrasing and capitalization!
:)
Remember, the enemy's end zone is DOWN!
GOOD LUCK JAHVID
WE LOVE YOU AND GO BEARS!
(i’m going to rec this for the fuck of it)
It's dat Woo Woooooo.
Good for him
Had a solid career at Cal despite the injuries. ( Imagine him healthy for UDub. Ughh.)
Cannot blame him for leaving. No reason to play football for free when someone is willing to pay.
He’ll have a productive NFL career. Hopefully, he’ll be drafted by whatever team moves to LA. : )

It’s a shame the Tedford Era stars have been somewhat disappointing when looking back on their careers. Marshawn, Desean, and Jahvid all could and should have broken career marks for yardage and touchdowns, but injuries and short careers prevented that. Even more disappointing, none of them beat USC and none of them made it to a BCS bowl.
I love Jahvid, I do, but right now I’m finding it hard not to focus on “what could have been.”
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.
Good luck Jahvid
I’ll miss you.

“For the past couple weeks and over the last month, my family and I have been offered the opportunity to enter the NFL, and that was our decision,” Best said. “It wasn’t an easy decision, it took a lot of thought, and we got a lot of advice from everybody, from coaches — (Cal coach Jeff) Tedford, my running backs coach (Ron Gould) — and friends, a lot of advice from everybody. We met with coach Tedford to go over the pros and cons of the situation, and after weighing out the pros and cons we decided to enter the draft and forgo my senior season at Cal.”
Best said that the feedback he has gotten from the NFL said he could go anywhere from the first to the third round in the draft, although that can still change based on his performances at the upcoming NFL Combine and Cal’s Pro Day.
Whose domicile? OUR DOMICILE!
Best of luck to Jahvid. On a personal level: I’m sad to see him go. By all accounts, a great teammate, a hard worker, and a genuinely nice guy. He’s a guy you love to root for. On a football level, I’ll miss the electricity he brought on his ridiculous runs, but I think our running game will be markedly better next season with a more-than-serviceable “lightning” option in Vereen and a legitimate “thunder” option in Yarnway. We haven’t had a reliable short yardage back in AGES, so I’m very excited to see what Yarnway can do.
