Google Tips for Gameday!

Hey CGB readers!  What a game last weekend!  Riley was supercute (as usual), and Anger kicked the ball so hard!   Yeah! Go Bears! (Ok, CBKWit's recap may be a little more detailed than mine)

Anyway, Google has a couple of great college football-related things going on right now, and I thought I'd share 'em with the CGB community.

  1. College Football Calendar - If you use Google Calendar (and I sure do), you will find this very, very handy.  You can subscribe to the calendars of your favorite teams (in virtually ANY sport), and the schedules will appear in your calendar list.  But that's not all, folks!  It appears with a cute little football icon (baseball icon for baseball, etc)!  I know, this is more than enough to push you over the edge of excitement.  I mean, a cute little football icon! Who could ask for more?  Oh, you want more?  Well, howzabout if that calendar entry updated the score for you in realtime?  Yeah, I thought so.  Badass.

  2. Google Earth KML's for college football stadiums - If you use Google Earth (I'll admit, I only use it occasionally), and you're a fan of college sports, you'll love this.  3D visuals of the stadiums.  Here's an example from the Google LatLong Blog post.  Perfect for reliving those glory days, now that you're all grown up...especially if you can't make it to the game in person.Big_house_medium

  3. Google Scoreboard for Android - I haven't used this, as I do not have an Android (or even an iPhone - gasp!), but I've heard it's pretty good.

  4. If you do a Google Search for "California Golden Bears Football" you get a nice little link to add a gadget to your iGoogle page...it looks like this:

    California Golden Bears Football (1-0)

     - Add to iGoogle
Last game: Sep 5, California Golden Bears 52 - Maryland Terrapins 13
Next game: vs. Eastern Washington Eagles, Sep 12 5:30pm ET

Those are the four I know about for now...if you've heard of any others, feel free to let me know!

I know!

Wouldn’t it be cool if it popped up like a holographic image? I bet that’s not too far off into the future, actually, knowing technology these days…

Games in 3D!

Anyone hear about the USC/OSU game that’s going to be shown in 3D at theaters! Crazy!

This is just wrong. I’m not sure I WANT to ‘get in the game’ — i mean its not like a ride at Disneyland! Sometimes the best seats are essentially 2D!

Wow, that is crazy. I like football and all, but I can’t imagine watching a game in a movie theatre, even in 3D.

That’s true. It is tough to turn down a cute little icon. You do have me there.

so I made the mistake of letting my wife know that:

1) There’s this thing in the summer called Women’s Huddle
2) They serve (or one can obtain) booze
3) The players work the “camp.”

She’s in and she’s bringing her lush ladies with her! Something about a “girls night out.” I said, “What if it happens from like noon to 3?” She said, “We’ll have a nightcap.”

So now Tosh really is going to bang my wife (again). Great. Twist I need papers.

iPhone has Sportacular
BB does not.

iPhone > BB

It's seriously too bad that there's no building or complex around that might have a large supply of sports drinks.
