Vote for the CGB Top-25 for Week 1!
It's finally that time! Please go here to vote for your CGB Top-25 for the opening week of this college football season!
The directions are listed on the voting page and it should be simple enough. Please let me know if you encounter any troubles. The results will be posted either on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Preseason Top-25 is shown in this fanpost.
Oh and Missing Barry you won't be punished for voting for Syracuse this time around, but don't circumvent by voting for Virginia or something!
The opinions expressed in a FanPost are, in every way, reflective of the opinions of every California Golden Blogs Marshawnthusiast. Moreover, they are reflective of every employee of SBNation, including Tyler "Blez" Bleszinski.

Should we wait until after the two monday games? Miami vs. FSU in particular could impact anybody’s top 25.

Next week's ballot IMO
I know I told Avi otherwise but I see that the BlogPoll is going ahead without them anyway.
Unless you guys think otherwise
In other words, Go Bears!
I'm waiting
Especially since I think I had both those teams in my top-25 (I know I had Miami). The AP/Coaches rankings might even wait for them since they haven’t yet been released.
Whose domicile? OUR DOMICILE!
This might be impossible in terms of extra work, but...
Royrules, is there anyway when we access the site that there could be an introductory page where we enter our username which would take us to a page showing the user’s ballot from the week prior?
I can only imagine that would be an enormous amount of labor, and not doing it would allow us the benefit of constructing the ballot from scratch each week (i.e. what Doc Saturday does), but I can’t remember just exactly everyone I ranked last week, which could make this week’s ballot look really silly by comparison.
Even if you can’t do that, thanks again for putting this together. Looking forward to filling the ballot out tomorrow.
0-1 Teams Need Not Apply
I don’t plan on watching Miami-FSU so I’ll just throw mine in already.
1 Florida
2 Texas
3 Southern California
4 Alabama
5 Oklahoma State
6 Penn State
7 California
8 Boise State
9 Brigham Young
10 Ohio State
11 Oregon State
12 Nebraska
13 Florida State
14 Georgia Tech
15 Notre Dame
16 North Carolina
17 LSU
18 TCU
19 Utah
20 Mississippi
21 Michigan State
22 Cincinnati
23 Tennessee
24 Iowa
25 Stanford
A little screwy because it’s the first weak and I dropped anyone who’s 0-1 out completely. Strangely enough Stanford is in there, though realistically they’re probably somewhere around 30-35 if you include the 0-1 “good” teams.

Because there's nowhere else to post this...
(NO DBD today?!)
But Cal should abduct FSU’s kicker. The dude is a stud. Also, both FSU’s and Miami ought to be ranked next week I think.
This week's poll is difficult
1 through 10 aren’t too tough, but 11 through 20 are complete guesses. 21 through 25 are fairly easy.
Whose domicile? OUR DOMICILE!
Just turned in my ballot
Thoughts:
Placing Oklahoma and Virginia Tech was hard. I dinged V. Tech much more than Oklahoma in part because V. Tech was dominated much more than the final score indicated, and because Sam Bradford will (presumably) be coming back while Darren Evans will not…plus I just think Oklahoma is better.
Numbers 20-25 were filled with teams that beat up on cupcakes. Those teams may be better than a few teams in the teens but until they play a team with a pulse the jury is out.
Iowa is gone for ‘winning’ against NIU. Ohio St., Mississippi and LSU are all slightly dinged for struggling against lesser competition. Georgia, Oregon & Florida St. are gone for losing. Miami and Cincinnati both join in for impressive victories on the road.

Submitted My Ballot:
I felt uncomfortable ranking TCU (though I did anyway) since they have yet to play a game. Miami looked pretty good, and I really like Jacory Harris as a quarterback. In addition to teams that lost, I punished Boise St. Iowa, Ohio St. and Mississippi. Also the Big East entered my poll with Cinci. having a big day. I’m suddenly looking forward to their match-up with Oregon St.
1) Flo Rida (special note on their game coming up in a DBD comment section near you)
2) Texas
3) USC
4) Alabama
5) Oklahoma State (remains TBD)
6) BYU – their victory over Oklahoma was not just a fluke
7) Boise State – same as above, but with Oregon
8) Penn State
9) California (clap, clap, clapclapclap)
10) Ole Miss
And just like Bernie, me and my baby made off.
Looks like the starting ballot hasn’t been updated at all, can we expect that at any point in this weeks poll? I know I initially criticized having a starting ballot, but now I’m beginning to realize it really is convenient, so I take back my preseason criticism. I also think I might have found a bug that may have caused me to vote for Syracuse last week – when I take teams off the board entirely (which I like to do!) it automatically puts in the next highest team. However, it puts in the same team every time, so I took off a few teams this week, and it automatically put Texas Tech in to my rankings at #22, 23, 24 and 25 (replacing the teams I took off entirely). Not sure how it handles this, but I coud see it causing some weird things to happen like me voting for Syracuse.
Anyways, I’m going to wait for a reply to this before posting my vote…
It is updated
It’s our pre-season poll. Notice ND at #25, notice Cal at #9 and Texas at #5.
In other words, Go Bears!
Ok, do other people think it’d be a good idea to make the starting positions based on the new updated coaches/ap/bcs polls instead of the previous weeks poll? My only reasoning for this is because I won’t necessarily remember every top 25 team that lost in the current week so I may leave a team about where they are when they should move down or out. Of course it’d probably be extra effort on your part, so I understand if you’re fine with it the way it is.

Hey guys thanks for suggestions
But I probably won’t update anything this week because I’m under the weather thanks to the sudden climate change from Seattle and Bay Area. I also injured my lower back and I can barely sit for more than 10-15 mins.
Next week I promise!
In other words, Go Bears!
Can any of us spell you and handle it this week? Or are there some programming things we’d have to figure out?
