Worst loss of the Tedford era. By far.

Was drinking Pliny the Elder. Am moving to Brother Thelonious. If I had hard liquor, I’d be passed out by now, which come to think of it doesn’t sound so bad after all.

At least people can see why I ranked Cal so low
They really hadn’t proven anything, especially after watching Maryland gag the last two weeks and Minnesota still a total unknown.

Had to go for the last option, because “very poorly” doesn’t sum up how awful this Cal game is. The grades this week are going to be entertaining.

I'll hope for the best next week...
But as a practical matter, the most likely outcome is a loss against USC. And then Cal will be 3-2, 0-2 in the conference with a bye week. And then the team will face a bunch of winnable games.
Haha, gotta love Forsett
Can anyone say Buffalo Bills vs Houston Oilers down 33 points and came back in the 4th qtr lets Go Bears!

Heartbreaking
Maryland last year was hard, OSU the year before that was worse. This is just devastating.

They both ended with seemingly strong drives, though. Even with a strong ending drive, I don’t know if it’ll make a difference.

I don't know who I'm getting more tired of: Tedford or Gregory
I know I know, Tedford is God blah blah blah Holmoe era blah blah blah competitive blah blah blah, but seriously, every year JT makes sure we have one horrible loss if not more.
Sadly I told my bro today, “I’m expecting a lame loss this season, let’s hope today isn’t it.”
JT’s postgame quotes:
“We didn’t come out ready to play and that’s my fault. I need to make sure we make more effort of paying attention to detail.”
Next year’s pre-game quote against Oregon: “It’s not about revenge it’s about redemption for the things we didn’t do last year.”
And then there’s Gregory – he of the great defenses, but who manages to pull off a complete bullshit defensive game plan at the most inopportune times: Oregon this year, UCLA another year, Arizona another, ASU another. WTF???
If we want to remain competitive keep Gregory around. If we want to win a PAC 10 title, I’m not so sure.

Will Tedford be willing to send out refund checks for our dear Cal fans who traveled to Eugene?
by coolingfan on Sep 26, 2009 3:29 PM PDT reply actions 1 recs
YES, Cal CAN help it if Masoli has an 88% completion rate
They could have had MORE THAN JUST ALUALU stepping up and actually working at defense.
Every season the very same thing.
Why?
I don’t know if it’s the same thing every season. Cal manages to put forth a good variety of heartbreak from year to year: poll controversy heartbreak in 2004, just one quarterback holding us back in 2005, being edged by Zona in 2006, the Callapse, and quarterback controversy, and now getting beaten blind and stupid by a conference rival. If Tedford never made the same mistake twice, we could be assured a run of undefeated seasons from now on, because I think by now we’ve covered just about every fuckup we could.

Okay, why is Riley still in the game?
Why not give one of the backups a chance? Why not give him some game experience? Why does Tedford always do this? This isn’t meant as an attack on Riley, who’s been no worse than anyone else this game.
List of tonight's Pac-10 games
And I don’t give a crap.
It’s already unpredictable enough, by virtue of it being the rivalry game.
by Yes We Cannon on Sep 26, 2009 3:39 PM PDT up reply actions
That really ought to be simple
He’s not going to get redemption by scoring a meaningless touchdown at the end of a rout. And in the meantime, he might get hurt. And in the meantime, his backups are getting no playing time in an actual game.
Should have punted. Now they’re just going to put 7 more up on the scoreboard.
Whose domicile? OUR DOMICILE!
Another silver lining
This screws USC. If we win, we’re a Top Ten team they’re playing.
Now we’re the worst team in the Pac-10. A win gets them no credit. A loss destroys their season.
That's the spirit
Get your shit together and kick their ass. You could still win out.
Troy will fall.
by Bruins102NCAA on Sep 26, 2009 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions
I love Cal. I do. But I will not believe in this team until they can win consistently on the road. This team, under Tedford, loses too many games they shouldn’t and can’t handle pressure. For all of you that refuse to criticize Tedford, this has to be the last draw.
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.

I’m giving an F overall by definition of losing. Running backs certainly don’t deserve and F, they did what they were asked to do, they were not given the support they required.
I am a horrible bruin-bear crossbreed.
I don’t know. On pass protection alone, the running backs deserve no better than a “B”. As good as he’s been so far, Jahvid was not good today.

by California Pete on Sep 26, 2009 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions
B is about what I was thinking for them. I think they’re definitely the best performers of the offense today, though that’s not saying much.
Jahvid wasn’t spectacular today, but when was he given opportunities to be? The coaching, the passing game, the blocking, those all play a part in his success.
I am a horrible bruin-bear crossbreed.
