Come to think of it
Our offense didn’t do anything in the first quarter.
that fumble on the fumble recovery was huge.
That could have really gotten us some momentum and tire out their defense. Instead, it’s our defense who’s been out there the entire first quarter.
Well, Oregon is dominating the game thus far
Playing in Oregon is always a royal pain.
Nice throw by Masoli

great game for Masoli to break out this season
ugh.

this is bad
we’re taking away the run game, more or less, but Masoli is beating us with his arm
OH MAN
Hill got faked out by the screen. Nice play by the Ducks picking on him.

Good playing position again
It hasn’t done us any good thus far, though.
So much for taking the crowd out of the game
But at least we ran the ball on first down.
It seems
Ludwig read a lot of the press that said Riley was going to have to beat them and so decided to give all the plays to him.
Anyway, Cal needs to show a bit more here. This is really not looking like the game we need to be playing.
So much for “focused intensity.”
Don't be silly
He’ll just sit a bit.

Did you enjoy losing to a team that went 0-12 last year. Suck it.

Not sure why a USC guy comes he to make a snarky comment. That, or I’m drunk.

OK, I don’t go to other teams sites and say hey, wow that other team your playing is looking good.

You may be used to it because everyone looks good against Wazzu.

Paragon SC is just calling it as it is
We’re discussing the game and he’s entitled to make that sort of comment. He’s not even trolling.
For what it’s worth, Paragon and DC Trojan are class acts. You need to calm down.
Indeed they are, that’s why I was surprised by the comment lauding our opponent on our game thread.
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.
Hey man, you never know. Just wish Monty was suiting up.

Nothing against the ATQ guys…I just tend to hang out on line with your guys…
how about NOT throwing 8 screens on 1 drive?

Isn’t this what Oregon fans warned us about Ludwig?

Not a bad kick too.
Cal still playing out of sync to start. It’s like 2007 all over again.

Wow, way to bring 2007 up. Not sure how the hell that’s relevant.

I meant the slow start in the 2007 Oregon game. Although Oregon was also struggling as well.

We're going to have to survive this stretch
Everything is going their way. Oregon is gaining confidence. They play well at home. We’re a crappy road team.
We just have to keep the game in range, though.

That's not an example of taking advantage
I’m assuming a loss now. Anything else is gravy.
It was only a matter of time before Oregon's offense got going this year
Just too bad it happened today. I wonder if the people who were on our site this week saying that Oregon was beatable because their offense has been bad still feel the same way?
i agree. great composure by Jake Locker

I SO hate the ABC commentators. Aren’t they supposed to be neutral?! They’re all swinging from Oregon’s nuts right now.
Silver lining
We’re exposed as being not that good. Our silly ranking can fall, and everyone’s expectations can get a lot more realistic.
true.. and our special teams has been better than ever before...
but all those turnovers don’t help.
jahvid can’t get anything going until riley shows he can complete a forward pass.
i'm here to clean your pool but i don't have a pool *bowchica bowow*
Good kickoff returns
didn’t do us much good anyway.
I just mean the length of the pass
He’s either throwing a screen or has his eyes 30 yards downfield. He doesn’t seem to be able to go through a progression.
Is it just me or he doesn’t seem as explosive as I thought he was. KO’s look good.
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.
Has Vereen been an explosive back, though?

Riley
never looked anywhere else, and threw the ball to a guy who was triple-covered.
But women’s boots would make it difficult for him to jump up and yell at the officials.

Those two turnovers back to Oregon were huge.
by StudentDoctorBear on Sep 26, 2009 1:50 PM PDT reply actions
Yep
They lost momentum when Josh Hill fumbled the ball back to Oregon
Remember
We haven’t beaten anyone yet. This is Cal’s first real game.
Bad, BAD tackling.

don't get it
did we just read the press on Oregon and decide that we weren’t going to prepare for this game?? Lets get it together boys!!
This is a little silly
Oregon is a good team, they’re at home, and they’ve taken advantage of our mistakes while we haven’t taken advantage of theirs.

Plus, their defense has played very well all year
That 18 points given up to Boise looks pretty damn impressive at this point.
One sign of hope
College football is a game of emotion. Oregon has played well, but they’re riding a wave of confidence with the support of the home crowd.
If Cal comes back with a touchdown before halftime, the players on both sides may take a different attitude in the second half.

Our run blocking has been really unimpressive.
And the playcalling is realllllly conservative right now.

Seriously, on this 3 and out, Oregon knew exactly what we were calling.
They had pass defense call on our passing downs. And a perfectly called run defense on our run downs…
Perhaps our playcalling is predictable again.
sorry
didn’t mean for it to come off so bad.

this game is seriously like you do something-I do something
You fumble and I’ll fumble (TWICE)
You pooch a punt and I’ll pooch a punt
except
oregon has scored 2 touchdowns and cal has said, “no thanks, touchdowns are too fancy for us”.

Plus, if you've never been to Autzen, you have no idea what a tough place that is to play
I haven’t been there since they expanded it, so I can only imagine what it’s like now. Fantastic venue.
I've been a Bears fan long enough to keep me from being surprised...
But nothing will prevent me from being just flat embarassed.

What's been your take on Riley, Danzig?
Looks fairly composed, but there is no protection and recievers are not helping him.
Fingers crossed that the first half was all about leading the Ducks into a false sense of security.

Everyone..step back from the ledge...
Teams tend to do what they do. Cal will make a run and Oregon will make mistakes. We get the ball back at the start of the half. Adjustments will be made. If we’re within a touchdown at the start of the fourth, look for a win. In the meantime, everyone relax a bit.
