Oregon up on Utah
Punt return for a touchdown after Utah was stopped on its opening possession…
Oregon is going to be a major challenge.
The Ducks’ uniforms are ugly, as usual, but in a different way – with grayish pants.
Iowa really ran it up there. Arizona’s D does look fierce though.

Florida 3 – Tennessee 3.
UT has a gameplan that they’ve managed to follow pretty well so far. 13 runs, 1 pass on the Tennessee drive, took a boatload of time off the clock.

Enjoy the R*** B***
I’m completely serious. Even if MC Baby Jesus QB comes back in, we can’t keep up with actual offense, and there’s only so much the defense can be expected to do.
All I ask is that if Cal beats SC, for fuck’s sake don’t collapse down the stretch and let someone else into the game on January 1 which will remain un-named.
Why would you want SC to win?
SC beat Ohio State on the road… if Washington wins, it speaks volumes about the depth of the Pac-10, especially with UCLA beating Tennessee on the road, who kept it close against Florida on the road.
I think it depends on if you want to go to the NCG, or the Rose Bowl. A USC loss would be a lot better for our RB chances. **Dodges flying blunt objects
But we are only in control of RB…so you have to root for the outcome that most increases our Rose Bowl chances – so you should root for UDub – or otherwise just root for no one.
by Tedfordisgod on Sep 19, 2009 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions
IMHO
We’re not an established enough program to be in for the National Championship. The rose bowl is def our ceiling. We don’t have “conference championship” games or a tough enough schedule the last 2-3 weeks. Even if we run the O, USC, and UCLA table, it will be forgotten by the time final ballots are in to choose who plays in the NC game. We played when Barkley was hurt, O didn’t have their star running back, etc. . .
We kill it this year, next year we’ll be set up for the run because we’ll have “earned” the right to be considered for it next year.
For WilltheThrill, this is Jon Miller saying goodnight. . . .

You gotta give it to Herbstreit... he called Oklahoma State upset last week and the USC upset today.
Because USC sucks this year? That is plenty good of a reason

It’s like Tedford winning with Holmoes guys. At least we know our guys won’t take our trip in Dec lightly now.
Yeah, this is more than just a trend in college football. Who knows if Sark is sustainable, but an amazing amazing turnaround in Seattle.

The start of the game was encouraging – MTSU garnered only 46 yards in the first quarter, and Maryland took a 7 point lead off a 48 yard Da’Rel Scott TD scamper into the second quarter. And that’s when everything went wrong.
The next two quarters saw only two Maryland touchdowns, but four Maryland turnovers, plus a blocked FG. MTSU, on the other hand, put up 23 points in those quarters, and took a two point lead into the final stanza. Maryland would respond with ten points in the fourth quarter, seven from a 63 yard Torrey Smith touchdown pass and three from the foot of Nick Ferrara on a clutch 43 yard FG.
Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be enough: MTSU scored off of a 40 yard TD pass and a send a 20 yard field goal through the uprights as the clock struck zero, marking the second time in as many seasons Middle Tennessee State upset Maryland.

They couldn’t pass last year.
This will be a huge test. Nobody has been able to throw on us this year. We’ve shut down the run in all 3 games. Oregon can’t pass, only run. That could play right into our strengths!

Stats to consider: Pac-10 QB play
Jeremiah Masoli: 4 for 16, 95 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT
Aaron Corp: 13-22, 110 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT
3 Arizona QBs collectively: 10-26, 105 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

For the sake of being complete
21-35 for 237 yards, 0 TDs and INTs for Locker, which is probably the best Pac-10 QB performance on the day, although in the same range as Riley’s day.
The #1 greatest threat to America: BEARS
Oregon has two problems: 1) Masoli can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a football. 2) Their O-line is very inconsistent and mistake-prone. Add these up and Oregon has a decent, but inconsistent offense. Their D is okay, though. I thought their secondary would get torched by Cain, but he was terrible today.
