Well shit. Now that we have expectations, we are obviously going to falter! Tedford can’t meet expectations ever! Higher the expectations, bigger the fail. We are going 4-8 this year.

Cal has had expectations in the past, and they didn’t do great. Therefore the high expectations caused the poor performance. IT’S SCIENCE!

This year we are going buzz-saw all of our opponents winning by an average of 20 points and earning a 10-0 record. We play Stanford, lose by 35. We play Washington lose by 40. Receive a Holiday bowl berth, play Texas, lose by 60. Great Expectations, they condemn us to hell every time!

Man, this is such a high, high ranking. Very alarming frankly… I never saw this coming. Such a high ranking makes me nervous. I think it was SI or something that has us ranked 22. That is much more like it. I am really surprised how highly ranked they have us in this poll! This makes us an immediate target! This does not bode well. FUCK!

It is not necessarily pessimism on my part. I have just seen that whenever we start with such a high ranking, we usually flounder at some point. I think it is great we are ranked so high. I really do. It’s flucking amazing! I just have a bad feeling it will hurt the team in the long run. Opposing teams will mark the calender for when we come to town and go to bed dreaming about killing us! Tell all the young players, ‘hey, you guys are ranked the 12th best team in the ENTIRE nation!’ I think that hurts their motivation. Somehow, I really do believe that. Nonetheless, I am really impressed. I never saw us being ranked this high. Apparently, many people know more than I do. Makes sense…

Agreed! It’s been awhile since you’ve been around, but you’ve picked the right time to come back. Lots to be excited about from Bears both amateur and professional.

Teams flounder regardless of whether they are ranked high or not. Fans only tend to notice when a team flounders when that team is ranked high. Higher teams receive more publicity.

Just to add....
I credit Coach Tedford with our high ranking. The man has been an incredible Captain of an often times decrepit ship. Decrepit in that I played for a high school with better athletic facilities. Him being able to bring in recruits like D-Jax and the like make him truly special. He has been the rock we have needed around here. I know I have grown angry with him at times concerning QB play, but ultimately his is a college football genius who knows more than us. The loyalty he has shown to Cal has endeared him to me. I love you Coach T!
