Today we have some great photos of the ongoing SAHPC construction, more updates about mending injuries from yesterday's practice, a look ahead to Maryland, and a look beyond to see how the Pac-10 will finish this year. Tune in Sunday evening for a weekend edition featuring information on practices from Friday and Saturday.
- Cal blogger extraordinaire Ken Crawford gives us some great photos from the ongoing SAHPC construction. Click each photo to maximize it up to ~3000x2000 pixels.
- Updates from fall camp include a Daily Cal report that most players' lingering injuries are healing up, meaning the team should be able to have a solid, productive final week of camp. JO talks to injured players including Best and Smith. The SFChronicle also hears from Best, who is nearing 100%. Mychal Kendricks was selected as one of Ted Miller's practice players of the week.
- Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen praises his players as they prepare for opening day against Cal. Additionally Cal's lauded secondary will be put to the test against what could be the most dangerous receiving corps in the ACC.
- Sports Illustrated predicts the Pac-10 season and has Cal tied with OSU for third with at 6-3 (9-3 overall). Reading in between the lines suggests Cal will lose to Oregon, USC, and Oregon St. Another prediction, this one by Ray Ratto, suggests Best will win no major awards this season.
- Cal women's basketball's senior guard Alexis Gray-Lawson is a top-30 candidate for the Wooden Award, college basketball's most prestigious honor.
- Women's soccer kicked off today and started the season off with a 4-1 win over Nevada.

It’s not just about Jahvid Best, but I don’t really like Ray Ratto.

Sitting here on vacation it’s so hard to take all this hand wringing seriously…. Perspectve my brothers and sisters (…uh,are there any sisters)…. We are 12 preseason with boatloads of reasons for hope and optimism…
It could be the glow of getting away , but I for one refuse to let Ratto or any of the other bummer, "they’re gonna let us down again " speculation get to me…GO BEARS, boil the Terps

Ted Miller
of espn referenced an article that described how a player was used. He stated that Tedford probably wouldn’t be very happy. Miller didn’t identify the source. Does anyone know of this article and who the player is? just curious. wondering if it’s connected to limited media access.
There was a controversy earlier this week about a reporter describing a certain play involving Isi Sofele. I didn’t read the article (nor did anyone else on CGB as far as I know) and I’m sure the article has since been edited or deleted. Rumor has it this is what inspired Tedford to place limits on who can watch certain parts of practice.
Whose domicile? OUR DOMICILE!
I read it
I don’t know how much I should comment, but it basically told you the play. However, other places describe it as simply, “executed to perfection” and “touchdown” and “60 yard play”, etc etc.
It’s not hard to speculate what it was…but maybe I think that just because I read what it was…

I haven’t heard what the source was, but I HAVE heard that it was not just a description of one play, but a rundown of every play run at one practice that was found posted somewhere online.
Alright, fine, I admit it! "Hydration Technician" really DOES just mean "water boy!"
