Tomorrow, July 30, 2009 is Pac10 Media Day.  There will be a live feed available at the Official Pac10 website.  So, you can follow along online tomorrow.

We just received confirmation that we will have Berkelium97 in attendance.  This is extraordinarily exciting.  He will be sending Twitter updates throughout the day, so keep it locked to the GoldenBlogs Twitter for more information.  And he'll try to get a question in.  Propose various questions in the comments and maybe he'll be able to get it in!  Of course, if this all works out, then next week we'll have posts with photos and stories from the events.  Thanks to Berkelium97 for his help in this matter.

Here are some of his biggest updates of the day (including a question for Tedford at 11:49):

1:45 PM--Everyone's filing out, i'm taking off too. If any of you have questions ask them in the livepost and i'll answer them when i get home.

1:42 PM--Talked to media directors. They've heard of, read cgb. One said cgb is "different" i asked if that's good or bad. Pause. "neither"

1:41 PM--I'll have more in an actual post. Lots of notes which i'll transcribe later.

1:40 PM--Sorry for the lull. Lost of people coming and going asking tedford and best questions. Tedford left. Best will leave shortly.

1:12 PM--Roundtable lunch with tedford, best, and cal media.

12:37 PM--Commish is speaking now and half the audience has cleared out.

12:28 PM--Again carroll emphasizes importance of players staying all four years, maximizing potential.

12:18 PM--If in charge of ncaa carroll says there would be "an awesome playoff system"

12:15 PM--Barkley is far ahead of any newcomer usc has ever had. He's not too far behind corp.

12:13 PM--Talor mays "maximizing his experience" by staying at usc all four years and not leaving early. Carroll subtly declares sanchez sanchez

12:10 PM--The guy next to me is wearing a hawaiian usc shirt with leaves and monkeys. And his ringtone is crickets chirping. Lolwut

12:05 PM--Boise st is 54-2 at home in recent years? Good luck, oregon. You'll need it to win on the smurf turf.

11:49 AM--I did, however, ask if best can return as gunner to improve kickoff coverage. The answer was a firm no.

11:36 AM--Tedford considering leaving a day earlier for minnesota game.

11:30 AM--Tedford time!

11:20 AM--Once again, the first offensive player mentioned is Best. Teams really see him as a force to be reckoned with this year.

11:19 AM--Stoops brothers won't play each other unless they happen to meet in a bowl game.

11:17 AM--Jahvid is in the room!

11:10 AM--Apparently miller told tedford about the letters he gets about whether tedford is the right coach for cal. They had a good laugh about that

11:05 AM--He says cal fans always send him the longest, most intellectually stimulating letters.

11:04 AM--Talked to ted miller for a few min. He showed me the bookmark for cgb on his pc! He really likes hydro's play breakdowns.

10:45 AM--When talking aboutopposing offenses, coaches and players have consistently mentioned Best first...

10:24 AM--Harby speaks of toby with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

10:21 AM--I can hardly tell harbaugh and wolff apart. They're like brothers. Toby is on time and he's excited about his fb and o line.

10:16 AM--Reggie carter looks forward to hearing "rocky top" when they go to tenn. Words he will later regret.

10:11 AM--Note to Cal defense: yelling at Kevin Price (ucla qb) won't break his composure (this comes from Reggie Carter's comments)

10:05 AM--Neuby (UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel): "early commits are trouble"

9:48 AM--Wsu will incorporate some spread elements next year-interesting.

9:15 AM--I talked to Tedford and he confirmed that they're putting the names on the jerseys. He had to step aside for a photo, though.

We'll be including some brief notes of Tedford and Best's Q&A after the interview concludes, right after the jump. GO BEARS!

Here are brief notes about each question Tedford and Best answered.

On playing the Emerald Bowl close to home: "Great experience to play a home bowl game."

Biggest factors in losing to Maryland: Tedford believes "humidity and execution were the big factors" in the Maryland loss; they will try to travel to Minnesota earlier.

On having seven straight 1000 yard rushers and great success in the running game: This is due to tandems (JJ/Marshawn, Marshawn/Forsett, Best and Vereen), great coaching, great talent. Tedford also says Jahvid is worth the price of admission, one of the best running backs in the country.

What is Coach looking for from Kevin Riley: Says he has a leg ahead of Beau and Brock because of the experience factor. Looking for more consistency.

Said something interesting about the mindset of Cal fans: “They’d prefer a Rose Bowl over the National Championship Game."

About the USC game: “It’ll be an electric environment.” He says it didn’t know that Cal had scheduled USC for the homecoming game, and doesn’t know how the homecoming game is scheduled.

Chris Guarnero will be Cal's new center: “Alex was the traffic controller.”;  Jahvid: “We’re going to miss Mack’s practice intensity.”

Berkelium's question, paraphrased: “Will we use Best as a special teams gunner?”
Coach: “I’m not even going to let Jahvid answer that question. No. We don’t want to wear Jahvid out.”

Talks about the 3-4: Syd’Quan Thompson, one of the best corners in the country, and the leader of the defense...Says more familiarity with the defense might make them experiment more.” Does he regret how he handled the QB situation last year?

Does he regret how he handled last season's quarterback situation? Doesn’t like quarterback by committee, but doesn’t regret how he handled the situation last year. Wasn’t enough consistency to go with one guy.

Best for Heisman, is he afraid of that possibly being a distraction?
~Jahvid is a team above self type of guy.
~Won’t be a distraction.
~Not our goal as a team.

Here was the information from the official site:

The Pacific-10 Conference will conduct its annual Football Media Day on Thursday, July 30, 2009, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT at the Sheraton Gateway LAX Hotel. The event will be streamed live and, for the first time, fans can take part and submit questions for the Pac-10 head coaches and players in attendance.

Each Pac-10 institution will be represented by its head football coach and a leading returning student-athlete, who will be given the opportunity to address media members from around the country. In addition, new Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott will be on hand to address the media.

Pac-10 Football Media Day may be viewed in its entirety on www.pac-10.org, Pac-10 member school websites and numerous other additional media outlets. For the first time, fans will have the opportunity to have their questions answered by the coaches and players via the Pac-10 Twitter account. Questions may be submitted at any time leading up to the event or on the day itself. The best questions will be selected and asked by the webcast's host, Steve Physoic, who will be calling Pac-10 football games this season on Fox Sports Net.

You can follow updates from the Official Pac10 Twitter (and they apparently accept questions there).
