Must be the (off-)season for getting nostalgic about Cal footballers of the past.

Asomugha is the best cornerback the NFL has seen in years. I know he played safety at Cal, but still, he should be a cornerback on this team.

So did Ray Wersching; there’s a pretty good history of Cal-49ers connections. But I agree that Longwell beats out Wersching, and Doug Brien should also get some mention, too.
With all due respect to Tyler Frederickson and the other kickers of the Tedford era, here’s hoping that il mio italiano preferito, Giorgio Tavecchio, can revive the Bears’ proud place-kicking history.

agreed
Muncie’s career clearly trumps Lynch’s…for now. But if you can make room for two kick returners (in addition to a punt returner), then two tailbacks seems reasonable.
Another question: I agree with Morton as the #1 QB. But who would be his backup? Kapp? Bartkowski? Ferragamo? Rodgers? Boller? Gilbert (did he ever start in the NFL)?

Right now, the answer is prolly Bartkowski based on longevity and stats. But Rodgers will pass both Bartkowski and Morton.

I can’t really argue. But no Super Bowl appearance for Bartkowski, unlike Morton, Kapp, and Ferragamo. Also, Bartkowski’s career may be more significant for the launching pad it provided his agent—Leigh Steinberg—than for himself.
By the way, maybe we should nominate Steinberg for the CGB Hall of Fame? Has any Cal alum had a greater impact on professional sports than him?

Holy run on sentence Batman!
It looks like though Aaron Rodgers once his career is over is going to put up better numbers than Morton that’s if Rodgers can stay healthy.

seems like a number of solid pros
got left out….
Ron Rivera is one that jumped right out (since he’s still coaching in the pros).
